I just remembered, GC has Mario Party, which can be fun for a whole 10 minutes at a time.

In all honesty, I don't really think it's a competition unless you travel a lot, or something.
The PS2 just has hordes of great titles built up over the past 6 years, and while the PSP has some great games too, it's really not a fair comparison. In terms of "AAA" software, it's like a 10:1 ratio.

I do agree with Ben too.. tho with GTA: LCS and now VC coming, games like Tekken, Syphon Filter, Tales of Eternia, Loco.. most genres are now covered. and they are imo the best of the best. I would rather play these totles becaus ethey are in fact better than the PS2 titles.. looking forward to MGS PO too.
i think if you havent played as many titles on the ps2, then the ps2 wins hands down. but personally ive played 80% of PS2 game sthat have graced our shores here in the UK, and now im on the psp. unless something new like FFXII or Okami comes out, I wont be bothered about any ps2 games until the PS3 comes out. and you can back up all your psp data on the pc with no bother at all, plstn4eva.. Tomb raider1... if i was you, and havent had years and years on a ps2, or the money to fork out on both a ps2 and a psp, I would buy a PS2. games are far far cheaper for some great AAA titles!

I don't own a ps3

Get a PS2. It's still getting good games this fall (it's going out with a bang), and has a huge library of awesome, cheaper games, which at 13 is no doubt an advantage (in fact, it's also an advantage at 25 :P).

Based solely on his age I'd tell him to buy a PS2 also. Most likely he hasn't played most of the great games on PS2 yet, and I assume he doesn't/can't work. So I'm sure his parents will appreciate the quality library selection at a reasonable price.
Also I know this generation if kids are more tech savvy than last but the PSP does ALOT of stuff that might be a little too technical. It's easier to get vids and music on there now than it has ever been but it's still a tricky Lil gadget.
