These days I don't care for any of the series. GTAIII was fun when it initially came out, but it got boring pretty quick, and Vice City got a nod from me in one of PSXE's yearly awards, simply because mostly crap came out that year.
I just personally don't see how someone can get excited about GTA anymore. It's like Madden- marginal improvements over previous installments without ever changing the basic formula; how can that not get old after awhile? |

i know what you mean, totally. GTA hasnt moved on imo much from VC. GTA3 was of course the biggest leap from the top-down days of the PS1, but it was VC that set the standard imo.
and your right, there isnt anything much that R* can really bring to GTA that will reinvent the game in any shape.. unless you can become a space man and fly to Mars (maybe ps3 ) but personally, i want my comfort zone secured on the PSP i want more GTA adventures. like why do people watch the A-Team? they know that no one wil die, and they know that everyone will come out smelling of roses.. but its that thing that just makes us happy.GTA makes me happy I think thats what seperates a lot of console fans. I like the Playstation because of the games already out. And i know that the games coming out on the ps3 will be sequels to my most loved games. what will the new Shadow of the Collosus be like on the ps3!!?! etc.... and though that brand new games that push the world of originality arent an every day occurance onthe playstation ( and any other console come to think about it), we have our fair share of bizarre on the ps1, ps2 and psp. i guess in the long run this is why i like Playstation/Nintendo over Xbox. just my own personal preference. i think GTA: VC will push the psp, and im really looking forward to seeing what they can do. with games like Syphon filter and Tekken already out on the psp, it shows that this lil fella is more than powerfull enough to please the likes of me and everyone out there who's like me. anyway... heres some screenys from GTAPSP.com - Covering Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories since 2004 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

just a bit more info from GTAportable.com..
"The Phoenix and Stinger makes a return to Vice City. • Vic and Lance have grown up poor, and you start off in a trailer park - that's brand new to Vice City. • There's a whole new cast of characters. • Not only is the city bigger, it's more detailed. • Buildings look cleaner, signs are at a much higher resolution, and the palm trees look better. • Brand new pedestrians, and groups of the same type appear less together. • Missions are much more varied than previous GTA's. • Water effects have been improved, with a ''choppy-looking surface'' and weather affecting vehicle handling and swimming. • Helicopters control smoothly • Rockstar Leeds has been listening to YOUR thoughts on Liberty City Stories, like controlling issues, swimming and flying etc. • As you probably know, the biker gang makes a return to Vice City. But, according to this article Big Mitch Baker will be the leader again. So expect to see him in the game! • In one screenshot we see a silenced SMG." sounds good! lol

As far as the excited factor goes I wouldn't say I'm HOLY SHIT THAT'S AMAZING!! excited but more the hell that's pretty sweet excited. I wouldn't mind a revamped romp through VC.
I bought GTA3 on launch and it was soooooooooooooooo fun. Then GTA VC came out with a bigger, better, city and a talking character and the game was pretty much the perfect GTA for me. I played that game ALOT, maybe even burned myself outta the whole GTA thing because I actually never played San Andreas longer than about the 1st few hours or so. It felt like just more of the same with a hood setting. It did have a few new things to it like making gangs, the gym and slight customization of the cars and your appearance but none of those things really made the game THAT much better. To be honest the single best improvement in the whole game gets skipped over by most people, swimming. One of the stupidest things in the world which made me die many many many deaths in VC was the simple lack of swimming. The only reason I even really bought GTA LCS on PSP was cause it took you back to Liberty City where it all began, and it was portable! Plus the multiplayer is funner than shit, I played in the store for like 2hrs before I even played the story mode of the game. If this was GTA:SAS I probably wouldn't be getting it, but it's VCS which to me is GTA's highpoint. Also since I'll be saying goodbye to my PS2 next week means all I'll have is my PSP till Nov. So besides Ultimate G&G, Locco Rocco, and Lego Starwars (which all happen to come out in the same week) I've decided not to get any other PS2 games except GoW2, & FFXII that I won't get to play until I have my PS3 ![]()

i did love GTA: SA, but it was the weakest GTA imo, spent the least amount of time on it.. and cheated very early on in the game.
i didnt think CJ was a strong character, the music was good but only on a couple of stations... I dunno. I just think VC was blinding, and like you I just want to see what they can do, have a romp round the old stomping grounds. I miss standing in the fading sunlight just outside your first hotel save room.. then to hop on a bike and drive off listening to 'Take these broken wings'... ahhhh I KNOW its not going to be the same, but if they can somehow keep a lil of the magic, that will be enough for me. imo they did very well with LCS. I found GTA3 a very very dark game, and I dont just mean in contrast. and I think LCS recreated that very well indeed, so I hope they do VC justice!

I truly can't wait for this game, finally being able to play in VC on my PSP is going to rule. Let's hope they use 'real' music rather than the mostly made up rubbish in both Liberty City GTA's.
With all these extra enhancements...graphical I mean do you think the 333MHz will finally be enabled on the PSP, or has it already, I'm a bit behind?! |

yeh, should be good i think. news on the game is that texture have improved, which is cool. looking at the screens (even though theyre scans), look a lot better than LCS.
but i also read that pop up hasnt improved at all! lol, i would like to see that made better, but not complaining. and i know its sick, and i may be a lil twisted but i also like the randomness of stuff that happens, like when cars go missing and werd stuff go on. i know a lot of people think that this should be improved, but i enjoy it ![]() but theres one thing that i would like to see in the game, and thats a parachute. if theres one thing that made SA 'great' for me, and that was to bail out of a plane at 2,000ft and just swan dive for as long as possible... ![]() Edit: new info from GTAPortable.com "• Binoculars can be acquired in the game and used at any time • The game features a new rocket launcher • Improved physics, prettier skylines, and far more dynamic lighting • The sea plane returns to Vice City • Time-contextual NPC behaviour (party-goers at night, bums at 5am etc.) • Phil Cassidy can be seen during a loading screen, thus meaning he's back! • When playing the game, they flew over Diaz's Mansion, the mall, and the Malibu Club • Character models is sharper than that of GTA: Vice City • Pop up is minimal, although still very apparent • As said before, missions will no longer be ''point-to-point A-to-B'' drives • Jet ski's handle completely different to the boats of the GTA series • Water is more realistic, and is something that R* wants to take advantage off the only confirmed cast member is Philip Michael Thomas - the voice of Lance Vance." looking good! ![]()

from GTAPSP.com .Explosions, trees and bushes all look much better in Vice City Stories .In terms of weaponry, sniper rifles and AK47s are confirmed but the rest of the weapons are still being decided .The magazine refers to Vice City as transitioning through a period of "urban renewal" in 1984 - lots of familiar landmarks are there but many are unfinished .Monster Truck Racing and Basketball minigames are rumoured .There are more than 70 missions in Vice City Stories pics from GTAportable.com ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() these are the first digi shots released, and i gotta say that these look very very nice. far more detailed than GTA: LCS ![]()

Can't wait for this! I'm a late bloomer with regards to GTA, didn't start playing until San Andreas came out and played that first, then just last month I picked up VC and played it, then I played LCS, so I'm ready for this! Still all fresh for me.

its a shame you didnt start off on the PSX with the top down game. for me that was the moment that you knew GTA was going to be huge! so much scope for the future.
and now we're here, its a good feeling, but as many here have said, that they do need to do more with the game. I think its fine keeping it like it is for the psp... more than fine!!! but for the PS3 I think we should be hoping for something very special indeed. draw distance and graphics should be the last thing that R* think about as it goes without saying that those thing will be improved ten fold. but its the content that needs to be adressed. im sure it will be too.. i have very high hopes (my toes are crossed). anyway here is more info.. from pspupdates.com "Missions: Many of the missions in VCS involve you taking multiple forms of transport, from sea to land, land to air or any number of combinations to keep the gamer's interest. One mission involves Vic Vance (the lead character in GTA:VCS i.e you) performing stunts on a Jet Ski and then switching to a motorcycle. Although the storyline for this mission hasn't been revealed for obvious reasons, we can assume that this is one of those introductions to a new vehicle that Rockstar do so well. Another mission is a little more pro-active, involving Vic piloting a chopper whilst Lance Vance (yes, he's back and as annoying as ever!) mans a machine gun mounted on the side of a chopper mowing down bikers. Then Vic takes to the streets, infiltrating the bikers compound and finishing them off. Again, this seems like an introduction to choppers in VCS, much-like Tommy Vercetti's mission in Vice City that was well err...pretty much the same thing. Tunes: Our friends at Go>Play magazine also got a chance to hear a small selection of the 80's tracks that you could be listening to in October when the game is release. Although they may not make the final game, it's logical to assume that they wouldn't cut them out. 80's sounds such as Blondie, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Depeche Mode are just a few that you can expect, if you can remember the eighties. Oh wait, GTA gamers are all 18+ so most of you should remember the 80's, right? More! Vice City is in a period of change with many construction sites scattered around the place. Some landmarks you may remember from Vice City will still be under construction, but we are unaware if any of them have any significance to the game itself as of yet. One brand new landmark which you won't remember from Vice City is the Chunder Wheel: a Ferris wheel that's a tribute to the wonder wheel in the 1979 cult classic The Warriors. Whats even better is that you can actually ride the Chunder Wheel, which makes an excellent sniping point. The sniper rifle has been dramatically improved in Vice City Stories, with a much better look and a better draw distance, making it easier to use. Those annoying loading times between islands are still present but have been dramatically reduced. Bad news for those who used to enjoy grabbing a coffee whilst you load the next island in Liberty City Stories. Go>Play magazine containing this amazing preview amongst some great reviews and details on homebrew applications goes on sale on August 24th " ![]() i also read that 'The Cure' was heard while some German magazine was playing the test version. that doesnt mean they're in the game ..again due to licensing these songs may not be allowed., but it does show one thing, and that is a true sound track rather than made up songs ala GTA: LCS. although not all songs in LCS were made up, just 90%
