Default xbox 360 version?

How can you tell which version of the xbox 360 you have? I was wanting to know if I have the version that has problems with the power supply or not. It has a date of December on it. Does this mean I have to be worried. I only had it plugged in for 4 or 5 hours and I smelled it burning so I immediately smelled it burning and unplugged it and haven't plugged it in since. Should it be ok? I bougt it on Ebay though but I got the extended warranty through Microsoft I just sent in the card last week (I won the auction two weeks ago and received the XBOX360 Last Tuesday sent the card Last Thursday with my Card Number). So what should I do and should I be concerned?
thanks

As far as I know, there aren't any versions that have problems. It's just a system by system basis. I wouldn't swear to that though.

If your 360 smells like it's burning, take that shit back, that's just common sense, dude.

Was it just plugged in or were you playing it for 4-5 hours? If you were playing and it's not properly ventilated then that could be part of the problem. I'd drop an email to Microsoft with the serial number and details of the problem. They should be able to advise you.

If you're positive it was the 360 making the burning smell, then just send it in. They are supposed to send you back a new one if something like that happens.

it was just plugged in. I was setting it up for xbox live and i smelled something burning. When I finished setting it up I had to leave to go somewhere so I unplugged it for fear something may happen and the smell went away when I unplugged it. What is microsoft's email address?

Friend, I dont buy stuff like that on Ebay. I like being able to go right back to a retailer when i have a prob with electronics. Although, that being said, i did buy my ps2 online through EBWorld three years ago after replacing my first. Generally i do Ebay for small items that i dont have much concern over. Thats advice you can really use in the future. For now, contact MS through the info they gave you and the generous help from the forumites...
