Default PS3 Price and Release Date?

Any new news on the price and release date on the PS3? I just got the XBOX360 but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet because I don't have any games for it yet. Which is going to be better in terms of graphics for games like NHL, MADDEN, AND NCAA FOOTBALL? Which one will have a bigger hard drive and better online gaming?

Its probably going to be Fall '06 in the $400 to $500 range. We have a dedicated Data & Price page which will get updated as soon as news breaks.

is there expected to be a big shortage like there is still with the xbox 360 where I had to struggle and fight to get it for $450 on ebay last week? You didn't answer my other questions about the hard drive, online gaming and graphics.Which console is going to be better for sports games which i mainly play? Also is it going to be as big as the prototype pictures show or smaller?

Sony said that they will be able to ship 4-7 million units by the end of this year (starting "Spring 2006"). So, I would bet they are launching in april or may at a price of $350 for no hard drive version and $450-500 with the harddrive and wireless controller (other things included).

That soon? They haven't even announced anything yet and it's only two or three months away. Wouldn't they want they public to know about it if they want to lauch with 5-7million units (is that in the United States or Worldwide? Will there be a shortage?)in April or May? Why not have a PS3 website up by now touting the new console or do they want to avoid a shortage like they had with the PS2 and Microsoft had the with XBOX and XBOX360?

We believe that the PS3 will have better technology and graphic capabilities. That said, the sport games will be same or better on PS3, but definitely not worse.

At this point Xbox Live service is much better than the current PS2 online service but Sony has recently made a statement that they do realize that Xbox beat them in Xbox vs PS2 Online area, and that they are strongly focusing on internet play with launch of PS3. Unless they fail, Sony's online usability should be equivalent of Xbox 360.

Yes, there will be shortages, we can pretty much guarantee that.

will the shortages be as bad as the ps2, xbox and xbox360 or will it just be a launch day shortage thing? Why are there always shorages of consoles? There are never shortages of CPUS, Windows, DVD players, Games, or whatever else comes out. Why gaming systems?Oh and is it going to be as big as the prototype and will it come out in April or May like the other poster claimed?

The system will come out in Japan first, and there is no release date for Japan yet, so expect several months to the end of the year at best. I was talking with a guy at GameStop and he said they are having a lot of trouble getting everything to work together so dont expect a release anytime soon...

Sometime this year, for sure, probably will have specs by E3 i expect or sometime later. Since no one knows why not wait like everyone else? You have no choice really. I dont want it if its not working perfectly, which is going to be a while...
