Shirt just has bad luck :P ... Get the cd cleaner, maybe $10 bucks tops I think. I'd try that before the air can.

if i were you i'd use the can of air, just carefully. I think there's more risk in using a lens cleaner (sony reccomends NOT using them).

sony also says not to use compressed air. i disassembled my ps2, sprayed in a ton of air, and havent had a DRE since.

oh... well...

i still think that air can do a lot less damage than a brush

One of my PS2s was having a little problem loading DVD games, when I remembered about the diagnosis feature. Turned it on and POOF it loaded in a second. I was shocked...I was literally, baffled. It went from taking 15 seconds to loading a DVD based game to 1 second.

You should try that.

ps2's are strange sometimes... some won't play cds, some wont play dvds... i'm selling my lauch system soon, hopefully right before the next price drop, for no losses (cause i'm gonna buy a new one for sure)

Yeah, the older PS2s tend to do that. My launch system still plays fine, though. The PS2 that was acting up, I took it apart a couple of times. :P

mine stopped playing cd-based games all together, and took like 15-20 seconds to read a dvd game. Sent it in to sony (for free ) and they just cleaned it and told me to like vacuum it out regularly and stuff. Wasn't there something about the launch pcx not being able to play some of the later games?
