You know that the SNES Emu runs at 333Mhz, which, as far as homebrew devs are concerned, is untested, and could also be potentially dangerous for your unit, right?*

* have they released a decent 222mhz snes emu?

I don't see how a PSone emulator would work though.. you'd need probably a gig stick to keep a disc rom on, unless they found a way of compressing it, or multiple disc games (such as FFVII) would be a pain in the ass I'd think. It would be cool if Sony would release official remakes of PS1 games on UMD though, not claiming them as new releases, but just ports for the audience who wants them.

Yes, I'm aware that they run at 333MHz. It's not very dangerous for the system. UMDs themselve run at 33MHz. The PSP can limit itself to 444MHz. If the emu's ran at 444MHz, they yeah, it'd be very dangerous. The system would melt. I don't know if they released a 222MHz Emu, they may have.

True, the games will take up a lot of space. PSone games can take up 300-500MBs, but RPGs are something else. A game like FFVII would require a 1Gig stick, no doubt. But still, I believe the PSP can run it. The way I look at it, it's powerful enough to run a PSone emulator. Although it may cause the battery to die faster, and you know you'd be playing FFVII for hours on end (especially if they can successfully stretch it to a nice widescreen display without messing up the picture).

Regarding the so called "overclocking" of the PSP; running it at 333 is simply running it at it's fuller potential. If anything, games right now are underclocked, running at 222; since the PSP is capable of running at a higher MHz than that. It has been stated several times by company reps/presidents that future PSP games will run at 333 MHz; the only thing stopping them from doing so being the battery. If games were to run at 333 on a regular basis, the battery would deplete a whole lot faster than it does now. Until new batteries are created, we won't be seeing companies create games to the PSP's full potential.

I think Sunny's just referring to how the homebrew methods for unlocking the 333mhz aren't official, it may be harmful simply because perhaps its obtained the wrong way (which may or may not be true) Sort of like if you setup your computer for a higher clock speed, if you don't know what you're doing, it could cause damage.

Pretty much what Norrec said. I'd rather not tamper with that... yet.
