*THIS THREAD MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*
Wondering if any of you guys were brave enough to go out and pick up the game before the movie came out (and play it of course).... Well, I decided to go for it and love the game so far. I've only played the first three levels, but found the 3rd level to be quite challenging - the light sabre fight between Anakin and Count Dooku. It took me SEVERAL tries, but maybe I'm just a n00b, haha. I'm quite impressed with the multiple attacks and combos that can be carried out, and the use of the force is awesome. I have read on IGN that the game doesn't contain too many spoilers, but more general knowledge of what happens in the movie anyways, which is why I decided to play it before the movie came out. Has anyone else played it yet, and what do you think?

I also got it at 10 this morning and had to stop to got to work but I'm right there with you Sabbas...the game is awesome ( I haven't played any of the Star Wars on PC but this IS the BEST STAR WARS game Iv'e played on a PS2. Star fighter and Jedi Fighter were ok but I want to BE a ASS KICKING JEDI and this game does just that. I'm thinking about getting Battle Front 2 next.
(Come on, anyone who knows anything about Star Wars shouldn't be too suyprised about anything....Anakin goes to the Dark side and Lord Vader is born...The End, DUH!) |

I refuse to play the game until I've seen the movie. Personally, I think the experience will be a whole lot more enjoyable once I recognize locations from the film; and as remote as the spoilers will be, I want the film to be fresh, and not something along the lines of "Oh, cool....I remember that scene from the game..."
Anyways, that's just me, but it sure does sound like the game is quite something!

the game is pretty good so far...I'm on the 8th level and it's getting very interesting. I'll definitely be checking out the movie opening day and not be too concerned on it being spoiled.
It's not like no one knows what's going to happen anyways, and most of the stuff in the game is stuff that's briefly touched on in the movie. Some of the major sceens may be in there but if they are I haven't got there yet and if so I don't expect a whole ass load of them. Just like when the Matrix game came out with sceens from Reloaded it didn't spoil the movie and most of the stuff you do in the game is side story stuff that's very briefly touched on in the movie anyway. (except certain major parts that I assume must be in this game towards the end) I've seen some cool shit but I'm not happy with the sappy ass reviews I've been reading on the game. This is supposed to be the ultimate Jedi experience, not the ultimate most perfect Star Wars game ever made. The game does make you feel like you can do all of the cool shit you see Jedi's do in the movies. The force powers are fun to use (especially grap and push) and come on damit you get to be a kick ass jedi. This is the best game I've played were you control Jedi's. I never played Knight's of the Old Republic or any of the other Star Wars for PC but after this I'm really heavily thinking about entering into the MMORPG world of Star Wars Galaxies. When this game was 1st announced there was supposed to be PS2 version and ultimately it got cancelled, I'm not to big of a keyboard and mouse for gaming guy myself. I'd prefer a good ole dual shock 2 to any kind of controller on the market. |

I played through the XBOX version of this game last night, and just received the PS2 version (from GameFly) today so that I can see what differences there are before crafting the review (which will be up before the movie is released).
A few general things (not platform-specific): -- IGN was WAY too hard on this game. GameSpot's score, while also on the low end, is at least more predictable than IGN's. -- There's WAY too much chatter in this game. A bit of witty banter between Anakin and Obi-Wan would have been fine, but would someone PLEASE shut them the hell up? -- The Force Powers are kinda cool. Force Heal is almost a must to level up ASAP. Anakin's Force Lightning kicks all sorts of ass. -- The default difficulty is just about right, and although you'll likely die a few times, it never gets overly frustrating. There is an uneven transition from standard hack-and-slash to one-on-one boss battles in terms of difficulty, but it's manageable. -- There are areas where you man laser turrets. These are forgettable. Trust me. -- For a game that had all sorts of access to Episode III assets, there's not really a lot of stuff worth unlocking. The Challenge missions are a joke since you get nothing for completing them. That's all you get from me for now. Yes, there are scenes from the film in the game... and yes, the game does reveal quite a bit about the movie... so, if you don't want to be spoiled (any further than the now-numerous trailers have done), hold off on this until after seeing the film. Look for the full review early next week.

Actually the only parts that really touch the side story stuff are actually the bonus missions whice I really wouldn't call a bonus, more like something else to do to give the title a few more hours of play because after you beat this game and check out the unlockable content (some of whice is actually pretty cool, some of it) you will never play this game again. Sad but true, still at least worth the rental probaly not a purchase unless you are a die hard fan. I myself will be keeping my copy (die-hard fan) and awaiting the release of Star Wars BattleFront 2 whice most likely due to this upset will most likely be the best console Star Wars game. This is not a review just a brief overview from what I've played, I've posted sooo much about it might as well finish up but Pete will be hooking you up with all the details in his full review, you better check it out or else!
