That's because remote controls are using IR. IR requires a direct line to the IR receiver. Most wireless controllers use the radio frequency, removing the problem of signal loss due to obstacles. The only thing that could cause problem, I assume, is the distance or interference from another source, but they're probably using specific frequencies to minimize possible interferences. I wouldn't worry about the technology.

As far as batteries go, long live batteries that can be recharged in less than an hour.

Thanks for clearing that up Cat :

You still could be left in a situation though where the battery runs dead at the end of an endurance race on GT4 so you end up losing all your hard work. I know I would with my luck anyway.

If they're intelligent enough, there will probably be a LED indicating that there's less than an hour left on the battery, or put the system on auto-pause once the battery dies and they don't get signal from any controller.

NEC SAID it will supply embedded DRAM to be used in the Xbox 360, to speed up anti-aliasing calculations.

The firm said its eDRAM macros would be a "key piece" of the console's graphics subsystem.

The memory will be used by the the video processor, developed by ATI, in much the same way as cache RAM is used by a processor. By using a high-speed storage area as a frame buffer, the R500 in the Xbox 360 will be able to perform anti-aliasing at 1280x720 with almost no impact on frame-rate, apparently.

ATI appears to have patented this method of graphics processing, although when or if it will appear on the PC is as yet unknown.

What also remains to be seen is just how much memory will be stuffed into the boxes. ยต

I'm definately buying this system when it launches. I love my Xbox and this will be a step up. Of course I buy all consoles though.

I don't mind the design. It's not beautiful, but then again, I very likely enjoy console designs (I can't say that about 2 handhelds - PSP and GBA:SP ).

They're ok, they'll last you about a week of standby and maybe 3 days of on and off use. Not the best thing in the world though. Those that charge for like 2 hours or so last a hell lot longer.

Truthfully i like wireless but i want to have the option for wired, just in case all of a sudden my battery on XBox controller dies and i'm in the midder of something atleast i can quickly plug in something wired.
