Default Bandai to bundle DVD & UMD together! Should others as well?

Quote:
You knew this was going to happen sooner or later: Bandai is going to be the first company to package a DVD along with a UMD version of the same content to watch on your PlayStation Portable while on the go. It’s only for the Japanese market, but they’re selling a DVD with a few episodes of an anime series called Eureka 7 bundled together with a UMD of those same episodes. You do have to pay extra for the bundle with the UMD in it (about ¥1,260, or $11.72), but at least it is less than what it would cost to buy each disc separately.

Well the question is what is your opinion on this idea Bandai is putting out? Do you think other Production Companies should do the same?

Well personally i think it's an excellent idea, i am willing to pay an extra $10 or $11.72 as the article mentions, to get the UMD along with my DVD purchase. So on average paying $30-35 for a movie on both formats.

Seriously, that is awesome and I think this marketing idea should be employed over here as well, especially if it's only another $10 to have both formats.

I'd be all over it.

depending on the title, i'd be willing to pay extra.
But i have a question, as i didnt get the spiderman 2 UMD with my system...
do UMDs have special features like the DVD versions, or is it pretty much just the feature film?

Yeah the UMD movies are basically just the feature film. It has a few options if I'm correct but NOWHERE near what your used to on DVD.

And for the original question, hell yeah it's a great idea. Now only if Sin City or the The Amityville Horror comes bundled....

That is such a great idea, it completely obliverates the decision of whether to get the DVD or UMD version of a movie. I love it, hopefully companies will start doing it over here.

I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to package them together but the stores should be issued with a notice that customers can buy both together for a set price.

That way it eliminates any additional costs with regards to the packaging of the items and they don't have to have 3 seperate displays for the UMD, DVD, and both packaged together.

im not sure, but i think its an option (correct me if i'm wrong) sort of like, they'll have a dvd version, a umd version, and a special pack with both for a better price.
