http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...sage.id=339039 I just this it's ****ed up how people send it to get there PSP replaced because of dead-pixels and are getting back other PSP's with dead-pixels or even more dead-pixels. And the fact that you have to pay for shipping is horrid. Sony has one of the worst Tech Supports out there, me being one of them who had to deal with them. I remember sending out my Sony CD-Player to them and i had to pay for shipping and it took them over a month to ship it back once they received it. Also they wouldn't replace my Sony headphones which cost me $50 and died after about 3 months.

Wouldn't common sense make you realize that there is a less than a 100% chance that you will get a perfect system in return? That's why I decided not to trade in mine just because of two dead pixels, and you never notice them during gameplay at all.
A friend of mine had one dead pixel, he traded it in, got one with seven dead pixels, traded it in, got a defective system with a cracked screen, traded it in and got a system with one dead pixel. Dead pixels are going to happen, it's just the nature of LCD screens, you just have to live with it. Not to mention that there is a possibility that the dead pixels may start working again, which happened to a friend of mine that picked up his PSP last Friday. |

The problem is that the PSP screen is right next to you, right in your face, and has fewer pixels than computer screens or LCD televisions. So one dead pixel is much more noticable than on bigger screens, and those that are typically viewed from further away. Off course, the PSP screen could use a better control of its quality. I doubt people would complain if they ended up with a screen with a dead pixel or two near the edges.

And why shouldn't i expect much from Sony?
Only a minimal amount of PSP's had the dead pixel, the percentage of people that actually had was far below the amount that Sony has actually manufactured. Sony is Sony, just like Microsoft is Microsoft. No matter what either Microsoft's Software or Microsoft's Gaming devision they are known to have huge amount of Tech Support problems. This is the same with Sony. It's not about being curtious on the phone, but rather that unlike other support companies They make you pay for all your shipping charges and half the time back up there products under a 3 month warrenty unless registered. I know what you mean that the gaming division is completely seperate from the music or computer division. But in the end it's all the same shit in every company. People are always curtious on the phone, but once you send in the product the actual technicians truthfully don't give a shit what happens. I've noticed there are certain companies that have always been bad on Tech Support and it shows, they never win any awards for Tech Support or Customer Server and they are: Sprint Sony Microsoft Apple (If You Don't have extended AppleCare) I'm sorry to say but the Nintendo DS was on higher demand in comparison to the percentage manufactured then the PSP, and yet when i send my Nintendo DS in to Nintendo it took about 1 week to get a new one back and this was in the 2nd week of release already. Nintendo didn't ask any question when i called them, they said no problem we'll replace we just need you name, address, phone number, and the basics. I love the PSP to death, i think that Nintendo is personally crapping out on everything they make, but there customer service and tech support is known always to be great and you know that as well. Truthfully i don't care for the deadpixel, i've already stated that, the PSP is good as it is but i just think that the people shouldn't wait to get back there sent in PSP's for over 3 weeks.

DS in more demand than PSP? Hell no. Considering that Nintendo sipped 600k less units than Sony makes that a moot point. Sony is dealing with a much larger userbase right now, than Nintendo initially was with the DS. The arguement is almost irrelevant. It just takes time for Sony to straighten things out because of the amount of people they have to deal with, in comparison to Nintendo. Same goes for Microsoft, Apple, Sprint, Verizon, etc.
There's a really obvious answer as to why the largest companies have some of the most questionable customer service practices. |

I'm one of the lucky ones. My bud and me both got our PSP launch day. No dead pixels for me (None 1 month after, from what I'm hearing, they have started to appear after 1 month of use) and my PSP is so far perfect. My bud PSP had dust under the screen and 2 dead pixels.
![]() The only probs I have noticed are THUG 2 sounds, it's really bad and some cut scenes don't have any sound to them (I've heard this is a design issue of the game) For the replacement of the PSP, it's understandable that there will not be many to re-furb at all. From the gamefaqs forum and others, some people have brought back their PSP more than 5 times cause of dead pixels and just keep getting more of them. My only issue with the PSP is the lack of a screen protector, that lil baby loves dust and "Monkey grease" (finger prints LOL) and a hard slip case included would be nice. I picked up a 2 year plan with my DS and that crappy 1 year with EB (bad mistake buying it at EB) so if anything fails, it's covered and doesn't have to be shipped to sony. |

If people expect to have a perfect PSP screen, well...their stupidity amuses me. 2-3 dead pixels is perfectly common. I have two launch units, one Japanese (which is the 1st generation of PSP hardware) and the other US. And both of them are fine.
This issue isn't as wide spread people make it out to be, either. |

The problem is that the people who have fine systems are quiet. The people who have a problem scream and cry and whine about it three times a day on forums and won't stop until they hope they've influenced everyone about how evil Sony is for giving them a less-than-perfect system. People with problems are an overly vocal minority.
