Thumbs up Beyond Good & Evil

Anyone here play this game before?

I just picked it up used ($7 after trading Whiplash, which was a dud), and I've really been enjoying it.

I know it's been around for a couple of years now, but I'm sort of cheap when it comes to spending money on games, so I'm always a little behind the curve...

I like the incorporation of "mini-games" along with the main story. Helps to keep my interest up (one of the big reason's I liked GTA III and VC). Also, the controls are nice and simple (and they work well). The visuals are definitely adequate, and the sound track is great.

It's sort of a nice blend of action and peaceful exploration. Relaxing and periodically challenging.

Definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed what I played of BG&E, looking forward to resuming once I've got somewhere to play it.

It was a pretty decent game. I bought it when it first game out and I was pretty entertained by it from start to finish. Too bad the game ends on such a story downer (it's sad because it sucks so much), and that it will never have a sequel.

I didn't think it ended on that much of a downer. I mean, it's not a story-book ending, but it's not that bad.

And I thought the ending was intended to set up a sequel, although I don't know that it'd be the same type of game...

After playing and thoroughly enjoying this game, I'm wondering if the Myst and Riven (sp?) games are similar. Anyone ever played both BG&E and Myst?

Unhappy

That's the problem. It's the problem that plagued Shenmue 2 as well. They set up a sequel. There won't be one.

I take it you have this on good authority?

It seems to me the marketing department must have really swallowed their tongue on this one. How is it that such a solid game (on all fronts) was such a sleeper? Pretty sad, really, except that I was able to get it for basically nothing...

Given the crappy sales, and the known intention of Ancel (game creator) to make this into a trilogy, and the fact that he's working on the King Kong game, I really doubt there'll be another one.

I'll certainly watch out for the King Kong game though.

Putting Michel Ancel and Peter Jackson together-- on paper, at least-- has lots of potential.

One thing's for sure... if you're at E3, you won't be able to miss King Kong's display. It's said to be 20 feet high and will take up nearly half of Ubisoft's booth space.

That's visibility. Hopefully somebody at E3 will get pictures back to us.
