Default why dont we see more OLD games being made for the consoles theres days?

you know... Jet set willy, Exolon...Cybernoid.. Elite...

the list goes on and on.

I realise that gameplay and all that would be an issue, but if you put a saving sytem in (which very few had).. it would be fine. and just adjust the controls so that you wouldnt need a keyboard.

I reckon they would sell like hot cakes. You could fit say 300 easily on a disk... sell for £30.

I know theres a reason why they havent made em... I dont want remakes... but why do you think no one cares enough to bring out the C64/speccy classics of yesterday?

ps... question.. were you a Speccy or a C64 man/woman?

personally I was Speccy

My neighbour was Speccy but I didn't have either. After that he got a NES and I got a Master System 2

I too think that the old titles would sell as long as they packaged enough together. It wouldn't seel if they tried to sell 20-30 on a disc for £30

I had Frontier Elite 2. Excellent game aside from the fact that I kept getting atacked by pirates on my second planet jump and I couldn't go anywhere else as I didn't have a big enough engine.

I know it's a little later than the spectrum and C64 but still. It's a classic that should be re-issued

Those were the days

I think there will be a HUGE retro comeback in the next few years. the games and consoles are getting so highly technical that people will start drifting back to the old stuff.

like the midway arcade classics.. I have both of those, because of my love for SpyHunter and Gauntlet.... but essentially its a crap collection that I will ony play once in a blue moon... But I did go and buy it!

theres an Atari collection on sale now too... and the buggers say that theres 20 odd games on the disk, but do they list em? no! so I can see that not selling much.

if you were in a shop and you picked up a box that listed 50 of the 200 speccy and c64 games on it, I reckon most of us would buy it because it would remind us of the golden days.

of course when you get home and you play it, THATS when you think "yeah, most of it was shit".... but shit or not, if its value for money, its kiinda worth it imo.

tho... has anyone here used the PS2 basic writer? remember that was Sonys plan to cut import tax as they tried to import it as a PC rather than a console? so we got that programme disk where we could make shit up?
I had forgotten all about that until the other day when I realised that the last PS2 I brought (new) didnt come with that disk. shame really, case that was fun when you first saw it, I thought some people would of written some crappy games and sent them to OPSM to put on their disk.. but no one ever did

Net Yaroze was for the PS1.. it was a black console.. very sweet! I really wanted one, and wouldnt turn one down now either!

what im talking about is the utility disk you got with the very first edition PS2 in the UK. the disk that came with demo's etc also had a Ya-Basic programme that allowed you to make up simple games and other programmes.

this was only introduced to get away with the import tax on Consoles... but its a fkg shame no one really bothered with it.

I might dig that disk out and makes note that says 'DILLON' and make it flash different colours.. lol thats about the hight of my programming
