I have been linked to my phone jack for my PS2 online for about 2 years. it sucks. bad. so i am looking for a simple 1 port router that i can jut hook an ethernet cable to and then plug it into my USB port and be done. i search for them and all i can find are these $60-$100 4 port routers. all i need is a 1 port, wired router any suggestions? i know NOTHING about routers so thats why im asking. will this work?

If someone confirms that works, i have a working usb ethernet adaptor i can sell cheap if you cant find any.. I'm not sure what brand it is, but I know it works, my dad sent it to me without a box, and its not labeled.
I know my Xbox has tried to connect to Live through it, but my school network sucks so it wouldnt connect anyways. |

It is impossible to have a 1-Port Router. There would be no existance of the name Router.
Router is an object that Route's different IP addresses to atleast 2 or more PC's. If you are just connecting one pc you are talking about a Cable or DSL modem. Keep in mind a Router does not provide you with internet, it merely takes the existing internet you have and Route's it to more then one computer or mac address. Keep in mind to use a Router a broadband connection is required.

he did mention he doesnt know about routers..
i think he's just looking for something to share connection, not specifically a router... but you'd know more about it than i would, would the usb ethernet adaptor, plugged into the computer, allow a ps2 to connect sharing the same connection the PC is? |

No, his best bet would be to get a Router if he has a broadband connection.
It seems to me that he doesn't even have a broadband connection and is trying to use the Dial-Up connection he has on his pc and tranfer it onto the PS2 via the Ethernet Cable. That to my knowledge can't be done, well unless you can some how hack the network of the PS2. Also it wouldn't make a difference because the connection in no way would speed up. You can get a 4-Port router for $30 today and that's best way to go if you have a Broadband connection.
