It would be a miraculous machine, indeed, if it made ME want to pick it up and go jogging
Whatever they come up with, I would hope it would retain at least the option of horizontal storage. Assuming that I would be able to afford one by then (my second kid is on the way), I would want it to call my entertainment system cabinet home. It'd be pretty silly to have to stand it along side the cabinet. Especially with two rug-rats running around throwing legos at and spilling milk on it ![]()

I'm probably most fond of the recent mock-up. The silver is so sleek and sexy.

I first posted that back in 2002, you gotta admit, Sony's absolute no information stance on the ps3 makes any criticism they get deserved. They know that their product will be the top seller so they dont give a blip about what anybody thinks of what they do. But i remember Nintendo getting burned pretty well one time, and i dont think they have ever really recovered.....

reckon they will use the PSX as a template.
but would it have mem ports? surely it would be HDD all the way? tho you probably would have one so you could travel to your mates house mem card in tow. anyway, I think that the most reliable mock ups are the ones that show real PS2 pads with the console. only Sony could do that.. or they would sue. the PS3 pad wont change much if at all.. im almost certain. its possibly the greatest design (imo) of a console pad ever created. I did hear that the PS3 pads would be wireless... an obvious step forward for Sony.

but then you've got the additional cost of batteries Dillon.
If it's intended to be backward compatible then it has to have memory card slots. I hope the design is sleek and straight forward with similar style pads. One thing I'm sure we all agree on is that it needs to have FOUR controller ports.

Hmmm... unless (ok... welcome to Gav world)
you have a transmitter that works on a long life batt (which you can change over 5 years.. same as mem cards) and the witch craft actually comes from the PS3 its self.. that way your pads batt life would last years and years.... does that make sense? or should I try that all again.. but in a sensible way without the witch craft? anyway, yes.. I have a wireless pad, and my god it eats batts for brekky! but would WiFi help out here? thats when I talk about minimum power to the pad, and all the guts to make it work in the PS3? yeah, you are not wrong... four is the magic number...

I personally like 2 players per console at most, and a LAN line link to other consoles for additional player, if needed. Latger screens for everyone, less processing power needed, and hell, just the name 'LAN party' makes the gaming experience seem that much cooler. Oh, and having a plethoral of ports on the front of the system is ugly. That's probably just me though, I doubt many people share my opinion. What about you guys though. would you prefer 4 controller ports, or LAN capabilities if it was encouraged in more games (like, we know many multiplayer games now don't use LAN, but could)? Personally, I'd go for LAN over ports. |
