As it is they could run the risk of certain customers deciding not to buy at launch and instead wait until customer demand sees a standalone PSP release later in the year.
You are implying that there will be value packs collecting dust on shelves while people hold out for a base model.

There will be no PSPs collecting dust.

They will sell every unit they can make as fast as they can pump them out.

Wait and see.

I have no doubt they'll sell out in most places but I'm sure there will be people who want to wait until they are able to buy the PSP on it's own rather than in a package.

They will sell out. But i too believe that not having a choice is kind of stupid. I would love them to take out the UMD Movie and the 32mb Card and subtract $50. With that $50 like mentioned earlier you can buy a far larger card. For $50 i can get a 512mb card.

EDIT: Also now that i found out thanks to Arnold that the EBGames and Gamestop Stores will be selling the PSP as it is without forcing you to buy an extra bundle like the Online Stores i will be getting it. But i know a few people who now are going to wait till the price is lowered to $200 before they buy it. A couple of workmates and friends. I still see the PSP selling out but i think as a marketing technique to either allow you to chose from a couple of different bundles for $250 or just sell the PSP without all the other stuff like the UMD movie for $200 would sell more.
