One thing for the EA haters to remember is that other companies did bid on the NFL exclusivity rights. Did you expect EA to just sit back and lose the rights to another company? What kind of sense would that make? EA was trying to protect their interests-- in this case, arguably their most successful console gaming franchise.

Why isn't anyone here pointing the finger of blame at the NFL for being so exclusive... or at Take Two for not ponying up the money (which they most certainly have) to outbid EA?

It's more bandwagoning. "Let's all hate the frontrunner."

Bah.

That makes sense, Pete, and personally, not being a Sports game player anymore im not concerned. But since the NFL is the one doing this indeed they should be the ones getting the blame, so this thread should shift noticeably on the blame game...

Good point Pete, I actually never thought of that; and I'm sure most other people here didn't either...

I don't hate the frontrunner. I hated EA way way before they got the NFL rights. For what? For puttin out garbage. Many people feel the same way. Sega's sports games are way better. I think they deserved the licence more. If SEGA'd won, we'd still be hating EA. Now there's reason to only hate them even more. EA's all about flashy presentation, millions of licences and zero creativity.

You didn't actually think people we would angry at SEGA for getting the rights? Of course not.

It's not like the EA hating process started overnight... They've been working for it for a while now.

I'm confused, dude. Are you saying that there was a bid going on to nab exclusive rights to the NFL license? If that's what you're saying, that's completely untrue.

Yup, that's what he's saying...

"We (EA) have proposed exclusivity several times in the past, but this year, in the spring the NFL had an off-site meeting, and they decided to consider bids for exclusivity," Brown told IGN in an exclusive interview. "Several bids were submitted but they accepted EA's..." - taken from IGN.
