Default The Halo 2 soundtrack

Just picked up this little gem for $12 at my local gaming store, and after listening to about half of it, I have to come in here and urge any fan of the game to go buy this immediately, especially Arnold, as he's such a huge Incubus fan and they performed four of the original game tracks, namely the Movements of the Oddessy, parts I through IV.

Hoobastank also makes an appearance, apparently, but I haven't listened to that track yet.

Either way, it's definitely one of the best, if not the best, soundtracks I've ever heard; definitely up there with Chrono Cross in terms of evocative melodies and rhythms.

It's also nice to finally be able to hear the full versions of songs we've loved since the first Halo came out, like the Halo Main Theme and Ghosts of Reach.

Breaking Benjamin man!!! Don't forget about them.

Isn't their song the one that plays when the elites are fighting the brutes in that room and cortana says...."You better sit this one out...."

I thought it was them at least, it sounds like em.

Yeah, that song just made me be all like " BULLSHIT I'M SITTING THIS ONE OUT!!!!!! "

I ran in there and ****ing MURDERED the brutes with the Elite Plasma Sword. The Elites tended to leave me alone for the most part and the brutes weakened them enough for me to be able to take them out last.

Anyone know who did the guitar work for the main theme of Halo? The neverending solo is AMAZING.....(during the end credits you can hear the whole thing....)

I listened to it, I realized that about a third of the songs aren't in the game, and I didn't want to listen to them, and I stopped listening to it.

Steve Vai did the guitar work for the MJOLNIR mix.

That was the emotion Bungie was going for. It was the same emotion I felt at that point. Sit it out? No thanks, think I'll kill everyone right quick.

In fact, the second time I played through the game, I wondered if it was even possible to sit it out, and it's not. You can't progress until every single one of them are dead, and if you sit on the sidelines, you'll get hammered.

I just came in here cause I found out it was Steve Vai....and you beat me to it. damn.

It's possible to sit it out, I did.

You just get to the checkpoint, and then stand outside the door.....make sure you have the sniper rifle and the covenant rocket launcher thing....forget it's name....but you should collect them from some dead dudes on the way....just pop in the room, pop a few in the face and back out the door.....

Once in awhile one or two brutes would charge to me....but one or two is no thang to deal with.

But.....it's not as fun as just bum-rushin' in and killin' them all. Wolvie Berserker style!!!

That's not sitting it out, that's fighting in a limited capacity.

In the first Halo, there were points where you could just let the flood and the covenant duke it out without firing a shot, if you were patient enough. I learned that playing Keyes on Heroic; right after you grab his neural implants, all you have to do is run by the door where the covenant come from, and then haul ass to a dark corner, and the covenant and flood will kill each other, saving you many bullets and much frustration.

You can't do that in the particular portion of the game we're talking about, especially since at some point you have to take on the Hunters, which the Brutes can't take out from what I've seen.

EDIT- And the Brute Shot, which is the Covenant grenade launcher that you were thinking of, sucks ass. I never use it unless I have no other alternative. It's only strength is the tactical advantage you get by bouncing grenades around corners and such, but given the choice I'll take dual plasma rifles every time.
