I love the Brute Shot. Insta-kill(s) if you get it right. Oddly great against brutes too (especially with its powerful melee attack).

Yeah, it's got a nice melee, but it's absolutely worthless on Live, even moreso than the shotgun, which isn't as weak as everyone says but still weak sauce nonetheless.

As for the campaign, it's impractical in the areas you get it for the fact that you're constantly worrying about grunts and whatnot, and lugging that thing around and using it requires painfully tedious re-dual wielding, and it's ridiculously limited clip capacity has me reloading too often for my tastes.

Either way, it's personal preference. I know people that LOVE the shotgun, or dual SMGs, whereas I'd take a nice SMG/Plasma Rifle combo, or better yet, dual Needlers; those bitches are like a wall of death when you turn 'em fully auto.

Oh, I haven't played much on Live. I can't see myself using it on Live.

It works well on Live to the extent that it's great for grenading on maps like Lockout, but as a direct offensive weapon, I only use it when I get stuck with it. Luckily it's not a map default weapon on any map, if I recall, so it's not really a problem.

I know the Brute shot is a default on Bloodgultch.....it works really well in big team battles, against banshees and stuff....because of it's rapid fire, you can take out a banshee with three well placed shots....

That wasn't what I was talking about though....

The little Grunts carry these things, they shoot the big exploding green plasma balls. I think it's called the Rod Cannon?

Fuel Rod Cannon, same thing the Hunters have grafted into their arms. Yes, very powerful indeed.
