Default Super Mario Bros. 3 Vs. Super Mario World

Personally, I think SMB3 is way superior. Sure SMW had larger levels and lots of secrets but I believe SM3 had way better level designs and superior power-ups. You know the Tanooki suited owned your soul when you saw Mario and Luigi turn into statues! Then there's the Frog Suit, Hammer Bros. Suit. They game just owned every 2D platformer. Of course I don't mean to diss SMW. That's a great game. One of the best 2D platformers of all time. One of my fav GBA games. But SM3 is it's daddy.

I got for SMB3. It was so much more fun to play.

Super Mario 3 also gets my vote, but it's VERY close.

Super Mario 3 had some great additions, like the different suits, match-up and item minigames, some very challenging boss stages to fight through, and some hidden secrets. Plus, adding the ability to store items for later use was something that was later adapted for Super Mario World.

Super Mario World was no slouch, with multiple goals for many stages and the addition of Yoshi (a character which is still one of Nintendo's most popular). It was also notable for some great visual tricks via the SNES' Mode-7 hardware.

Personally, I think that Super Mario 3 added more to the series than Super Mario World did, visuals excluded. It's still as much of a challenge today as it was over a decade ago, and is worth at least a few plays for any game player.

Now this is a tough question for me. My two favorite Mario games of all time. I give the edge to Super Mario Bros. 3 because it's more fun as 2-player game and I feel like replaying it several times.

I'm still waiting for Nintendo to bring out the GBA version of SMB3 so I can okay it anytime anywhere.

Yeah... that's been a long time coming. It should have been the FIRST Super Mario Advance... not SMB2. Ugh.
