Broadband
Cable Modem
Phone Cord (possibly a really long one like I have, because the phone jack is like 10 feet away from my TV....)
ethernet cable....

the modem and ethernet cable should come with your broadband package you'll get.

Credit Card to set up Live account.
Live Starter kit.

Live is 49.99 per year....
Broadband prices vary, but are usually between 29.99 and 39.99 a month. Modem and stuff comes with subscription.

Why would you need a phone cord?
You should check your Xbox games for free two month subscriptions. ESPN games usually have it, Halo 2 has it, Pandora Tomorrow has it, and I know many others do. You can keep using those until you've used them up. I've got a years worth of them.

If you want to use your computer and xbox together without having to reboot the modem and switch the ethernet cable out..you will need a router.

You gotta change your gamertag, though, but it's a small price to pay (compared to the $15 for those two months).

I'm just wondering about the service I'm going to be getting here. PLEASE tell me I'm not getting a Socom-like style with Halo 2, getting booted frequently and getting killed by laggers literally flying across the map.

You don't need no phone cord if you're using Cable. Cable Modem runs under a coaxle cable and ethernet cable. DSL runs under phone cord and ethernet cable. Cable is far superior and much faster.

You get 2-moths free in every X-Box Live compatable game (Only X-Box Live Online Gameplay).

Yes you can keep on using those 2-month things but everytime you do you have to register a new account and cancel the old one. Get's kind of annoying imo.

im guessing if you cancel your account, maybe even for a month, your information is completely removed, and your gamertag is back out for recycling? or does it allow you to keep your gamer tag even if you cancel the service?
I was going to get Live for when im back home ( i can connect on my friends cable.. cant even connect here at school, the network is so blocked up), but i was thinking about using halo 2's free month, then getting the starter kit with crimson skies or something.

Wow lots of replies lol. So ethernet cables come with the starter kit? If they dont how much do they cost (ish)? Errr and do you have to pay anything on top of the 12 month subscription, you know likw £15 a month aswell as the starter kit?
Jumbo: Nope Im not a pro evo fan, it'll probably be for Halo 2 and anything that I get for xmas which is live and isnt pirated (which should be quite a few because this xmas Im gunna pay for my games ).
Oh and Norrec, Im loving your BR avi, I watched it the other day, classic film.
