STEP 1
-------------------------------
Ethernet cabels should be supplied to you once you get Broadband, if you don't have broadband which is something like a DSL, Cable, T1, T3, or higher connection then you're not even in your first step. If you need extra Ethernet Cables they range from $5-$60 depending on lenght and where you buy it.

I don't know about Europe but in the US such providers for Broadband are:
TimeWarner Roadrunner Cable
Verizon DSL
Earthlink Cable & DSL
Optimum Online Cable
SBC Yahoo! DSL
AOL Broadband (Cable/DSL)
And more...

Those usually range from a cost of $30-$60 per month on average DSL is $30-$40 per month and Cable is $40-$50 per month.

STEP 2 (Optional)
-------------------------------
Buy a router so you can split your internet connection with your pc and Xbox or anyother console/pc. This allows you not to always switch off and gives maximum convenience, but this is only optional.

Routers range anywhere from $30 with Wired and $100+ Wireless. On Average a wired router cost $40 and a Wireless one costs $70.

STEP 3
-------------------------------
Get XBox Live Kit or use your 2 Month free card to sign up to XBox live. If you have the Kit which comes with the 1-year subscription, you don't pay nothing but the price for that kit for 1 year. More information available on the XBox Live Terms & Agreements.

STEP 4
-------------------------------
You're Finished, hopefully that helped you out.

Jumbo: Nope Im not a pro evo fan, it'll probably be for Halo 2 and anything that I get for xmas which is live and isnt pirated (which should be quite a few because this xmas Im gunna pay for my games ).
Oh and Norrec, Im loving your BR avi, I watched it the other day, classic film.
Ethernet cables are generally very cheap. You can get 15-25ft for around $7-20. I'm not sure how much that is in your currency, but rest assured its not much. That's for Cat5e, you won't need Cat6 for this.

And thanks, I made this icon for my livejournal a while ago, i love BR... I have the mangas, novel, and both movies.

That's the only really good Live games.

Others are just ok.

DOA: Ultimate
Crimson Skies
Pandora Tomorrow

That's about it.
