Default GT4 delayed again

I don't know if this only applies to the UK.

HMV have moved the release date to 7th Jan and Play have moved theirs right back to 1st Feb

What else can they be doing to it??

I'm sure that my college work, GTA:SA and the other 2 dozen games I have will tide me over until then but I wish they'd stop messing about with it.

They could have kept the late Nov/early Dec date and not suffered in sales because of any other game.

Let's take a trip back, shall we?

The year was 1999. Gran Turismo 2 was one of the most hotly anticipated titles for that year's holiday season, and with competition from Sega's new Dreamcast, Sony needed a slam dunk and released Gran Turismo 2, despite being rushed and even a bit incomplete (you couldn't get 100% complete after finishing the game).

I think that SCE understands that GT4 is going to be huge and would rather give Polyphony the space to make sure that all of the loose ends are tied up, rather than rush an unfinished game to retail with the hope of salvaging a holiday season.

I'm just thinking that there should have only been a few loose ends to tie up when they delayed from the original release date. If they are still working on the title noew then that means they had absolutely no chance at all of meeting with the original deadline and so shouldn't have presented everyone with such an unrealistic date.

I know they need to make sure that all the bugs are sorted and everything is looking nice and shiny but I cannot believe that it has taken so long.

If my memory serves me correctly isn't it about a year since the original release date?

I think without GT4 they will still have a solid holiday season.

Because existing owners will buy the top games coming out....and kids who want to play GT4 but don't have a PS2 will ask for it for christmas.

Agreed. GTA: San Andreas is a holiday goldmine, and MGS3 has potential to be huge, too. WWE fans have SmackDown! vs. RAW. Platforming fans have new versions of Jak and R&C. The list goes on... and is pretty solid, even without GT4.

oh for certain there's still plenty of top titles coming out between now and christmas. Far more than most people could afford.

I don't car about a 6 month release date delay due to complications. I just get a little peeved when it's more like a year+ delay.

As you guys said though, It does mean I've got £33 to spend on something else.

It'll probably get spent on Christmas presents for other people
