And yet Nintendo fanpeople are either committing mass suicides or calling for the heads of Capcom because they feel effectively screwed.

Guess what? Capcom's shareholders actually figured out that having an exclusive on a system with a far smaller userbase than the PS2 sorta limits the earning potential of that game.

It's freaking business. Not some sort of vendetta. It's not because we all hate Nintendo.

Facts are facts. The Gamecube doesn't have the installed userbase numbers to support having any kind of third-party exclusive. RE0 and REmake were GC-exclusive, but I sure as hell didn't see the GC eat into the PS2's market share all that much.

It amuses me when people take this crap personally. It's not like Capcom cancelled the freaking game for the GC. GC owners are still getting it first. What's the damned problem?

Now the petitions are starting to circulate to get Capcom to release PS2 exclusives (i.e. Devil May Cry) for the GC as reparations for breaking their so-called exclusivity agreement (i.e. Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, etc.).

Pardon me if I don't shed any tears over this.

While I agree to some extent, it certainly makes no sense to me for a third-party publisher to commit to an exclusive deal for a console that has such a small installed userbase, like the GC has. Lukewarm sales of REmake and RE0 all but confirmed the notion that RE just wasn't a system seller for the GC... and this also led both titles to be doomed to relative unknown status. The masses just stopped caring about RE.

I'm personally for having ALL third-party publishers go multiplatform... but in the case of the GC, I think that publishers also need to consider whether their games even have a shot at selling decently on a console that's got a reputation for having owners that generally care more about Nintendo's own games than anything else.

that's really what I meant.

Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo should all have their own exclusive in house titles.

but for all the other game companies...they should just make them across the board on all platforms.

I don't see why they wouldn't do that automatically...more money for them....more games for us....win win situation.

Just how much money would one of the big corporations have to pay the publishers to get exclusives. When they then go and flop it's a lose lose situation for both of them.

Maybe someday they'll learn eh?
