I have to admit that it's rather amusing to see EA giving MS the virtual finger when it comes to online gaming.
It's also fuel for the fire in the rather silly war of words between XBox and PS2 supporters. It's funny seeing XBox fans poo-poo on EA Sports titles, yet they're still outselling Sega Sports and Microsoft's pitiful first-party sports efforts. If things were different, they'd change their tune 180 degrees-- "Oh, yeah... Madden frickin' rocks!" Whatever. ![]()

Seeing as how Eidos is never happy with any platform, and Electronic Arts has a stranglehold on sports games, I am not surprised at their displeasure with Live. Personally, I think both companies should just shut up and count their millions, and spare me the altruistic nonsense.

As for EA-- they do dominate, and certainly have the right to tell whomever they want to go screw. I personally find it amusing that they're openly telling Microsoft to take a flying leap into an empty and shallow pool. EA Sports games have still been outselling online-enabled sports games on the XBox, despite fanboy whines. EA simply has overwhelming name recognition, and that continues to win the day for them.

Actually, Eidos is doing just fine. They announced their sales projections a while back, and stated their financial upturn as the reason why they delayed Tomb Raider. You can tell when Eidos is hurting- they released Blood Omen 2 WAY too early. It's a great game, but there were a lot of issues with frame rate and the battle system that could have easily been fixed. If they were hurting, we'd have seen a bugged out TR long ago.
As for EA being able to tell whoever they want to get screwed, you're right. |
