You'll get screwed in the process of the return. Each PS2 has its own unique number. Look at your receipt, and look at the white strip with black numbers/bar code on the back of your PS2. Two different numbers. They will look at that in order to do the return. Save yourself the banishment of the store or any worse charges. Put the broken machine up on ebay, and tell people it's broken, and can be used for experimenting and etc. Don't think you can pull a fast one at the store that you bought the PS2 at. All retailers know that the new PS2s are defect free.
You'll get screwed. |

I found this in a website
http://www.console-direct.co.uk/index.htm you think it will work, they say you don't need a chip, you just have to replace the cover for the other cover with a flip top lid, and you can play all your cd-r and dvd-r back-up copies and imports, oh well see you homies around ![]() |

Hmm, you people seem to have forgotten who you are talking too.
I opened the box from the bottom, leaving the top seal untouched and lookin new, since it is. I took off the sticker with the barcode of the new console and placed it on the old console. Looks identical. trust me. Box closed, receit in hand with fake untraceable name and address. I get a free PS2 I seem to have thought of everything, havent I? |

Magic 3.1 is a good chip for imports. Doesn't boot up US or JAP DVD-9 discs well at all though. That includes Xenosaga and MGS2: Substance. Only works for US v1-v7 boards, too. So if you get a brand, brand, new console, you may not be able to chip it with the cheaper Magic 3.1 PCBs, you will then have to look for the DMS3 chip with the v8 patch. Great chip, too ****in' expensive. Let's you play Divx/AVI movies on your PS2 as well.
I wouldn't advise you chip it yourself either, unless you have really good soldering skills. Lots of tiny points around the BIOS need to be scraped and soldered.
