Default gameshark 2

I just got a gameshark 2 but when I put it in it said "please insert Playstation 2 or Playstation one disc" or something like that. It really pisses me off!! I was wondering if the PS2 model SCPH-50001 (the new one with quieter fan etc.) can read blue format (which is what the gameshark is)? Any help you guys can give would be cool.

the new ps2s should run all formats of ps2/ps1 games in that region. if they got rid of blue-disc compatibility, it would destroy the game library.
did you insert the gameshark memory card like thing?
i think thats what you need inserted....

yes I put in the memory card thing. Didn't work..... I am going to try to use it on one of my friends older ps2s see if it works. I'll let everyone know the result.

15 minutes later: I looked on a forum it seems alot of other people are having the same problem as I am. And their PS2s are anywhere from release to brand-new ones...... my gameshark for PSOne works just fine, why can't this?
Still going to try on my friends PS2 though.

Way off topic:
In the closed FFX-2 thread. The persons last response had hooked on phonics in it. I bet he pronounced it "huhookeed on puh honics werkehd for meh"

Hey Evil, What was going through your mind when you wrecked?

Well, first I was thinking, did I leave the oven on?
Then my leg snapped in half and I thought, 'Maybe I should get a puppy.'
What do you think I was thinking?!?!
I was thinking 'AHHHHHH!!! AHHHHH!!!"

lol.
Regan kicks ass.

lunch and no cleanup? can life get better? i submit that it can NOT!

3rd party software is not supported by the newest PS2 models.

GameShark 2 is old. It won't work on your console. Get Action Replay 2 Max.

Thanks. Can you tell me a little about Action Replay? (or is it the exact same thing as Gameshark?)

Action Replay 2 uses 10 (I think) digit codes which you can find at www.codejunkies.com (American and Euro codes)

Action Replay Max is a new coding system they've brought out but has basicaly the same results.

You can either pay top whack for an AR Max card and CD or get a cheap AR2 card and CD (which will allow you to use hundreds of codes on from their site) then get the AR Max upgrade CD at a later date if you think it's necessary.

At the moment they are releasing codes for both versions but I guess they'll be phasing out the AR2 style of coding. I've used AR2 since getting my PS2 and have just recently purchased the £10 upgrade CD to turn it into an AR Max.

Both types also come with DVD X which should allow you to play DVD's from any region on your PS2 though I haven't had a chance to test this out.
