Games are evolutionary, the build on what's been successful, and the hardware available. BTW, didn't ID do wolfenstein 3d?

http://www.idsoftware.com/games/wolfenstein/wolf3d/

And on the note of ID, I conceed that some games, every once in a while, are a bit of a revolution, look at Wolfenstein, and then at Quake...
And let us not for forget FF (pick one, except 9), esp. VII.

DarkMage, I recommend you read this entire thread before coming in here and spouting off information that has already been cleary analyzed.

At any rate, this argument is extremely subjective, as stating a game is revolutionary is based on one's own judgment. I would contend that all games are evolutionary, but aspects of them are revolutionary. Like Arnold said, the gameplay did not change significantly in FFVII, but the graphics and sound qualities were definitely revolutionary in my eyes.

Macho Man: (sheepish grin) I stand corrected. I'm a die-hard Duke Nukem fan too (at least, I was for the PC)... I musta got some wires crossed. Mis-firing synapses or something. Anyhow - oops. wned:

Ryan: Nice arguments.

p.s. - I agree with Ryan's and Matt's sentiments: read the ENTIRE post before replying to someone's argument, and read the ENTIRE thread before responding to a post.

evolutionary, simple as that, games evolve and get better over time, look at GTA series and GT series, thats all you need to do...then there's Metal Gear...

I apologize for the repost of stated information, something came up and I was in a bit of a hurry so I skipped a few posts.
