Default Shenmue II

Played a demo of this today, and it seemed like a cool game. My only concern though is that most of the demo was just speech and walking around. There was one action sequence (when you had to chase the kid who stole your bag) and one fight. Other than that you didn't actually do much. Is that reflective of the whole game, or was this just a particularly slow part?

I've heard that Shenmue II has a bit more action than the first, but a large part of the game is what its like in the demo.

I really didn't like it. For the 20 hours i put into it it broke down like this:

talking: 15%
Walking And searching: 60%
Fighting: 15%
Working: 10%(varies with each person)

The fighting is about the same, except in 2 you can street fight for money.

I have both Shenmue I and II. I haven't really played the seond one much but I almost beat the first Shenmue. I like the game, but I rather have an RPG style game instead.

Only played my Shenmue II for Xbox once though.

I love to hear that. That has got to be the most overrated franchise in history, well next to Panzer Dragon IMO.

I'm a huge fanatic of both games. I found Yokosuka, Japan and Hong Kong, very immersive gamescapes. I love the combat, (VF style) I loved QTEs, the soundtrack is superb, and the story really blew me away. Of course, the voice acting is obviously less than stellar, but if you're patient, I promise it will be a rewarding game experience. I woudn't suggest buying it right off the bat if you're not to sure about it. But definitely go ahead and give it a rent. It's worth that much atleast.

Hahaha! Overrated? Shenmue 1 sold like shit for the DC in the US. It met very mixed reviews, and pretty much every reviewer pointed out it's flaws for what they were when the game came out. Basically the same story with the US release of Shenmue II. I think it may be selling a little better, but probably not even a quarter of the "overrated" Metroid Prime.
