Computer Gaming. I bought it just to play these "so-called" great games on the PC. Here's my conclusion:
- Has the best "ported" game amongst the consoles. - Has some "360 exclusives" - Emulator-friendly based (Dreamcast and PSX emulators are a charm) - No good exclusives aside from the SIMS 3. - Does not satisfy me as a gamer, Crysis is not worth it. - I'd rather get a MAC in the future and use the computer as it is intended to, education! Gaming: - Graphic cards on the PC upgraded with 3 generations beyond the PS3 and the 360 but the best they can come up with until this very day..."Crysis". Other games are just excellent ports. Before it was the consoles catching up to the PC, now it's the total opposite. - PS3 and 360 are putting out way better titles than any console did before. Graphics and gameplay just keeps getting better and better - Even with 2 games per month, I'm already satisfied as a gamer. (not enough budget for more) |

Was a PC gamer for years, spent far too much money on systems and time with endless tweaking to the graphics and sound settings to still be disappointed that I can not play the latest games at it's highest setting. So it is consoles all the way for me now, I like being able to just buy a game and know it will work, giving me the intended experience.
I still have some powerful PC rigs which are all running Linux, and though I could still play windows games on them, it is still easier to put a disc in my PS3, sit back on a comfy sofa and play on a big flat screen T.V.

My opinion has kind of shifted since I posted in this thread seven years ago. I love PC gaming but it can be such a pain, especially as my current machine barely scrapes the minimum specs and will need some major upgrading to be an actual gaming machine again. Most of my gaming time is on console games nowadays, and console gaming has come a long way since I said here that RPGs and FPS' just aren't suited to them.
I still want to upgrade the machine at some point because there are PC games I want to play, but it isn't a priority at the moment. |

As one who has done a lot of both id agree that console gaming has come a long way. I think really there is just so much time that can be spent gaming, its really tough doing both pc and console gaming, just takes too much time away from real life, gotta split the diff. PC gaming has great aspects to it, though...

I actually used this pc a little less than 4 years ago for WoW. I had just made Warlord in pvp and the pc i was using was messing up. Went over to Best Buy and bought this one and downloaded all those disc, etc, over here. Its been a great web surfing machine, anyone who has noticed ive mentioned considering a new laptop or pc. The hard drive had been making some high pitched noises, and when i went to seriously looking at some new laptops one day it just completely stopped making the noises, like it knew i was considering getting rid of it. Now its perfectly quiet and runs super smooth. For a 1 gig ram its pretty decent little pc, but not good for anything much than surfing at this point, wouldnt want to bog it down with any games...

[quote=The Benny (Macho);151557I need to sink some cash into it to make that happen.[/quote]
Benny would it not be cheaper to buy a new pc/laptop ? They are pretty decent now for the price you can pay for a decent machine unless you really talking top end spec here and want to spend over £1000 plus for a decent machine that will last for years. I did this with this PC and it's now too slow to run anything decent. I wouldnt even bother trying to upgrade. It is working ok for me for surfing the net at the minute etc but as for playing games on it no chance. It's got a 1gig memory 160 gig hd, the the NVideo graphics card 5800 128meg one I think. It just about runs Football Manager thats how bad I know I need a new machine but till I can afford one or this one really breaks as there is not that much wrong with it, I'll have to wait. |
