Anyway Snake, my point was that if they came up with a brand new franchise that seemed to replace any of the existing ones from the start then those die-hard Nintendo fans (that everybody must of had to deal with at some point or another) would be pretty annoyed, maybe even feel betrayed by it.
Ok. Did you not read what I said?

You know, Macho, Nintendo can still make new franchises WITHOUT abandoning their older ones...now there's a thought!
Who made mention of abandoning Mario or Link or Samus or Donkey Kong? Certainly not me. Advance Wars, now THAT'S a great new franchise, but it's RPG/Strategy, there's little market for a game like that on Nintendo's front. Nintendo needs to create a new world. Damn shame Rare left, they were Nintendo's innovators.

I was laughing my ass off when Nintendo stated that Rare was only responsible for 4% of sales for Nintendo during their fiscal year. During their fiscal year, Rare didn't even release a single game for the GC. Star Fox came out a few weeks after Nintendo's fiscal year. God Nintendo is ****ing stupid. :rollin:

Nintendo Exec: "Hey uhh, guys...your software isn't selling our GameCubes."

Rare Exec: "THAT'S BECUASE WE HAVEN'T RELEASED STAR FOX, YET, YOU ****ING DOLT!"

Nintendo Exec: "Well look, the point is we're not making money from your games on the GameCube."

Rare Exec: "That's it, I'm getting the **** out of here."

What I meant was that I'd assume Nintendo would revamp all their old stuff first, and then bring out the new franchises. Otherwise, if a game bore any similarity to an established franchise then people would start asking 'Why was this not an <established character> game?'. Once Nintendo have got the older stuff out of the way they could safely bring out the newer stuff. This was all in response to:

Quote:
I'm talking about new game experiences...an ORIGINAL character based platform title, no Mario, no Luigi...someone NEW!
If Nintendo came up with an original character based platform title before they developed a Mario version then there would be a barrage of complaints, you know there would. Developing a Mario game and a new franchise platformer simultaneously would cause problems too, so they have to wait it out.

I'd say give them time, wait until Mario 128 is out of the way and see what happens. Though as I said earlier it may only be when the new consoles are out that Nintendo are really forced to embrace new franchises.

Arnold, I like how you make it seem that Rare just up and left Nintendo, as if they could have without Nintendo telling them to 'get out and don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya'.

Sure, maybe Rare wanted out, but it was NINTENDO that made the decision to let go. If you want to make fun of someone, make fun of all the dumbasses who post things like "I can't believe MS stole RARE!!! That's not fair to Nintendo!".

Then again, you may have just been trying to be funny, and not necessarily perfectly accurate, in which case I took your statements WAAAAY too seriously

Personally I think codemasters should just buy EA, MS, Nintendo, and Sony and be done with it. You're on my side, aren't ya duke?
