i might pick this game up this weekend. i think its 30$ now. i hear nothing but good things about CS. does anyone here play it?

Or do you not own Half-Life?

I personallyl dislike the game. I don't like games where the only point is to kill the max amount of people. It bores me.

i play counterstrike alot... it is a great game and sunburn the point is not to kill the max amount of people ...there are objectives to accomplish such as rescuing hostages and planting or defusing a bomb but i would recommend it...it is without a doubt the best first person shooter

Counterstrike = SOCOM in the first person point of view.

Not really i think socom is sooooooooooooooo much more better it doesn't even compare.
CS way to stupid and boring. The game was good at first but then i realized i wasted my money. 1st hell lot of people used to cheat and now still cheat but less amount. 2nd new maps take forever to download for anybody either on dsl, cable, or t1. Buying weapons go annoying because when you kept on losing you had no money for the good weapons.
Sniping is maddddd easy and you can have a sniper that kills with one hit no matter the body part you shoot. And having 100 health is also a huge flaw which made it die out in my mind.
I played Rogue Spear longer then CS and sometimes i still play RogueSpear.
Plus the game crashes and unbeleivable amount of time.

I say if your gonna go for realism then go for it all the way like RogueSpear or Socom. And if you don't want realism then do things like Doom and UT. Don't make it half and half that's just boring.

well i broke down and decided to buy CS. the patch i need is 116MB!

Like Lazer said....you wasted your money....I don't think the game is all that good.....compared to like socom and rouge spear or even unreal tournament.
