Default does anyone buy movie tie in games?

i was wondering does anyone buy movie tie in games even if there crap just because they have seen the movie and thought the movie was really good.

with the exception of rogue squadron/2/3 i can not think of a movie tie in game that was any good. do you agree?

or vice versa what about great games which became shit films like mario bros and tomb raider

The first Tomb Raider was great, and the second had it's moments. It definately had more parts in it that were like..."HEY, I do that in the GAME!"

The movies were both better than TR:AOD anyways. Angelina Jolie running around in tight shirts>CGI lara croft running around in tight shirts.

I bought Enter the Matrix, and was slightly impressed.

But you got it all wrong, the best star wars game is Star Wars:Obi Wan.....for X-Box. I mean, c'mon, what's better than running around a level fighting your friends as JEDIS?!? And the single player game RAWKED!!!

I think a good.. nay brilliant film director could make a damn fine game from a film...

but I don't think they can make a good film out of a game.

if QT could work with RockStar.. it would be a pretty amazing game, but to copy a game for a film.. you already have the players memory of what the game was to compete with, best give the public something new.

no film tie-in either way has ever worked. we can say that Mortal Kombat or Resi Evil were 'okay' but really... i mean REALLY?

I think there isn't a film out there where you could honestly say was worth it. the Matrix really could of worked in a console game, if they delivered everything they bullshitted about. I sat there and watched the 'making of the Matrix game' I saw and heard Will Smith's bird banging on about what it was about and the bridge between this film and the next... when Neo is in the room with blah blah, Ghost will be doing this and so on... bollocks. it was all BS in order that we pay top dollar for the game.. and we did, or at least I did.

I think they need guest directors on games, working for Capcom or Rockstar or Konami... but I think its been proven through lack of imagination that making films from games is pants and making games from film even more pants, and its becomes far to linear.

er... that's all imo of course

What's better than destroying the death star?

Weilding a Lightsaber with deadly accuracy using the right analog stick. Playing as Mace Winduu with a purple lightsaber, using the force to fling your opponent away from you...

Playing in the single player mode, reflecting blaster shots from droids with your lightsaber right back at them....running into a crowd of them and slicing them all in half with one fell swoop.

HOLY SHIT.

I NEED AN X-BOX! And Star Wars:Obi Wan!!!!!

edit: oh yeah.....if they were needing to make a movie from a game...nothing is more deserving than NINJA GAIDEN. How long has it been since there was a really cool movie all about ninjas? TOO LONG.

The problem with Movie to Game is the fact that they focus too much on one aspect of the movie, and forget about everything else.

Enter the Matrix. Everybody raved about the slow mo special effects in The Matrix so when they made the game they gave us lots of slow mo moves and fighting, but not a lot of substance. I find this to be the same with most other movie tie in's

the matrix promised us a view from the other room... to play the action that was going on when the stars of the film were on the screen.....

Niaobi (was that her name?) and Ghost ... how could the first level of the game be occupied by the same person? when I was Ghost and N (ill call her that) saved him... when I played her I played the same level and Ghost saved me.. WRONG! pants.

there was some cool stuff as in bullet time, wall walking fighting, and I think if it wasn't for the rushing of the product, the game could of been superb, but it was brought out at the same time as the film, just to rake in the money.

as for star wars... your right. I haven't played KOTOR, I did play Obi and hated it, but KOTOR is meant to be superb, and I loved RS2 and Jedi Outcast 2.... but for me that's three games out of about 20 star wars games.

There is no reason why Jedi Outcast or KOTOR cant come out on PS2, we just don't get them... we get okish games like Starfighter or Bounty Hunter.

But StarWars is one of those titles that you really can go nuts on. the history you make up is your own... not linear at all apart from having the good guys and the bad guys.

I also think that Star Trek have wanked in the eye of the console. you have this Star ship... where you 'discover new worlds and civilisations' and 'you go where no MAN has been before'

so what do they do? they put you on a Borg ship where you have to shoot things.. mainly Borgs.

Why not discover? why not put you in a starship and let you explore the universe and beyond?

I would love to play Kill Bill the game, but I know it will be crap. I have lost my faith in movie tie in..totally. the only games that may work is non linear films. Alien... there is a good film you could make a good game out of, and with AvsP2 on the PC, it just shows how a great game is made. we need more of that on the PS2/Xbox/GC rather than the Simpson's.

as for games becoming films..... I think its just the same.

anyway.. ramble ramble ramble
