We keep getting more and more big games. And it seems the other 2 keep getting a few here and there. Will they ever catch the PS2 in terms of games. I mean the PS2 has a list of about 30 - 40 games that could be called must own. Where the other 2 have a max of about 10 - 15.

I doubt the situation could ever change in this generation, the PS2 just has so many more units sold than the other two combined. If somebody is going to make a game for one console only then it makes sense to put it on the system that has the most potential buyers.

I don't currently come close to having 30-40 PS2 games (and don't consider many of mine must owns) but there is still a small backlog of PS2 games that I do intend to try (things like Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank and Kingdom Hearts). With the XBox and 'Cube I've already played almost every game on the system already released that has interested me, and just have future releases to look forward to.

Yes, gc can match, just look at billy hatcher and the giant egg
but seiriously most of the games i wasnt are on gc although given the chance there is alot of games on ps2 i want and not many on xbox.
SOOOOOO many games, too little money, too little time.

i have all the main consoles and i was just thinking the exact opposite, the xbox line up is incredible compared to the others. gamecube...well, it tried didn't it. with the exception of f-zero gx there's not a lot i really like.

If you look at the sheer variety then no, neither the GC or Xbox can hope to have a library like the PS2.

The % of good to poor games may actually be lower for the PS2 but that's only because it has about 5+ times the games to choose from.

indeed.. there's about 2,500 games out or coming out in the next year for the PS2 worldwide, nearly 70 million PS2 sold (more than the population of the UK)... they are set to break the PS1 record.

only the PS3 will be on square one.. and then who knows.

but if the rumours are true and the Xbox2 isnt backward compatible then it could be a very serious situation for m$.

plus if the PS3 goes for more than £299 like the PS1 did or the PS2, then that could also be in trouble.

I think with consoles being soooo cheap this soon after their initial release, we could see brand new consoles at £199...

I guess we'll have to see what Sony want to do. ill quite happily pay £299 for a PS3.
