Default PS2 crapping out on me

well, its happening. my 1st gen PS2 is starting to show some bad symptoms. i get disc-read-errors almost everytime i start it up. and it takes longer to load the game. could it just be dusty? i read somewhere that spraying the canned air into ur PS2 is bad because u move all the dust that has settled. i might have to buy one with my tax return.

Mine hasnt had any problems, but of course, I don't use it daily like you guys do.
If its just dust, I think it can be cleaned out using something else.

1st gen PS2????

do you live in an air tight bubble?

I only ask because everyone I know has at least gone through one...

shame urs is acting up now. I think there is a PS2 cleaning disk... but I have no idea where to buy one from. I was warned off other cleaning Disks by Sony, they told me that if I use a third party disk cleaner then I am a fool...

they said that they were bringing one out last feb... Hmmm, who's the fools now eh?

my first PS2 had a dust fault, and I had those error msg's coming up not all the time, but a lot. luckily I was 1 day from the end of my year warranty... so I got them to replace it.

But the dust problem is what killed my 1st PS2..
