I'm just wondering what your opinions are of these games, whether you own one or the other, or both. What do you think of the game? How do they play, how're the graphics, audio? I've read the reviews on both of these games, but I want some user opinions. I just wanted to see what you guys thought before I pick up Live in mid November. Thanks

Dude, ive never been a fan of basketball games like that, but me and my friend picked up NBA Live 2004 and it just plain sucked. Whatever you do DON"T get it!
Dunks are all the same, plus its a different button to push if you wanna dunk. They just pass it out of bounds some times.....seriously EA should be ashamed. |

Yeah, ok, I'm sure we'll pass up a $13 game...

2.Yes you have a shooting button now and a dunk button,it works great this way. 3.I dont pass the ball out of bounds, maybe you suck at the game ![]() Sabbas the game is an improvement over live 2003 imo. This game actually has defense in it unlike last years. The 10 man motion capture makes the game flow much better and the animations are actually better than espn basketball, though espn has much better graphics. The new hop step that uses the triangle button is a great way to attack the basket but if you play online get ready to see people abuse this.Audio is better in nba live than espn,I have actually heard the crowd chant YAO when I play with the Rockets.Play by play is better in live ..Marv > Tom Tolbert who sucks in espn.Espn also has the worse camera angles this year, ugh they are so far back ![]() As for which one is better ..I like both live and espn this year, though I do have more fun playing live. |

Thanks for your input Magoosh. Only one question: how exactly do people abuse the hop step? Is it a "cheap" way at getting points?

I guess you can consider it cheap, its just easy to do it but the key too stopping it is having good center. It's basically used to break free of your first defender to get too the basket. If you have a wall there *Yao Ming* you should have no problem stopping it. |

Thanks for your input Magoosh. I guess you're the only one that has experience with EITHER of these games

I have Live 2004 and I'll admit that the controls were really frustrating to get used to at first because I was so used to the old Live controls. Once you get them down though, the game is a lot of fun to play. Sabbas, your passes are prolly going out of bounds bcuz u are trying to throw full court passes, which arent realistically done with ease, thus they go out of bounds. I like that the game has improved a ton on the defensive end, and the new offensive moves are pretty cool too. I dont like using the right analog for juking, but it aint that bad. The hop step is a disgrace to the game of basketball to begin with, so the fact that it is overused in the game is no surprise. It should be a travel every time, but ever since the game has been taken over by the "street mentality" the jump step has ruled supreme. At least they put all of the things u see in the NBA in the game. My only other gripe is that they make the Celtics really shitty at outside shooting, even when wide open! This is the same team that absolutely lived and died by the 3 and the outside shot, and they cant hit shit. I still dominate with them though, and if any of you punk m'er f'ers are looking for a game, either AIM me or look me up online with the PS2. My screen names are as follows....
AIM = The Kid 420247 EA Online = AOA DANK C U on the court!! GAME ON
