Default I think 1UP bullshitted with that N-Gage story.

Around my area, each store that sold the N-Gage sold around 5-10 of the unit on the day of the launch.

Now, that's about 15 stores. Some guestimation leads me to believe the N-Gage sold at least 80,000-100,000 in the US.

Nokia shipped 400,000 worldwide.

well if that's true, then that's not quite so pathetic.

although I asked the manager at EB here in andover, and he said they had sold 3 of them. All with the 100.00 rebate offer.

This EB is inside a mall. They're always pretty busy. I'd say on average, each EB store sold 7 units on the first day.

That average is in no way governed by anything more than guess work, and sales of products such as these are always going to be much higher in a big market like NYC.

don't forget though , that most sales are hype and word of mouth.

initial sales may be 'ok'.. but when the word got about, I bet it wasn't or isn't exactly a 'playstation' story.

since its been out, he in the UK its been very slow. in GAME people are playing with it in the shop, but you just have to look at their faces to see what the general opinion is. and if you listen to the staff in the shop, its an almost desperate show of false belief.

not being an arse.. but I haven't heard bull like this since GAME/EB were being forced to put the hard sell on the Xbox.

these days the Xbox gets sold like any other console, but back in the day, staff at GAME were obviously told by their managers to sell the Xbox above everything.. same thing is happening with N-G.

if the product is any good, it will sell itself.

im looking forward to the N-G/2 I bet it will be better designed...

That's if they even decide to go ahead with an N-Gage 2. We'll see how long the first one lasts before making those assumptions. Keep in mind that it would be even more difficult for the N-G/2 to compete when (IF) it comes out because the next GameBoy will be out, along with the highly anticipated PSP.

Not only that but It will be a sequel to a really horrible first.

And the EB I went to is in town east (andovers mall) It's a two story mall...it's huge, and the EB there is REALLY busy.....and the salesmen there are like drugpushers sometimes.

I'm just talking about EBs. And seeing how 95% of EBs are either around shopping districts or malls, they all target a large amount of people, so it's safe to say that the average units sold per store was at least 7.

I do not believe it's safe to say that. EBGames is the leading gaming industry in the United States.

I'm not argueing that your assumption is wrong, but it's only an assumption and not a fact.
