Default Vivendi Universal Games?

With Vivendi hoping to sell their games division for a billion dollars I couldn't help wondering what would actually be included in the deal. I only know of one publisher (Sierra) and one developer (Blizzard) that are part of VUG, so does anybody know what else they have?

Ah yes, Vivendi own the rights to the Lord of the Rings books, forgot that. I wonder if that would be included with the games division though, as they already sold the rest of their entertainment and media stuff. Thanks for the info GD, it seems they have quite a few good franchises in there, though I don't know if there will be any companies out there who'll reckon it's worth a billion. Take Two certainly didn't, and they're actually looking to splash their cash anyway.

Somebody better give Blizzard a good home

If the licences are included then that would add to the value. The Simpsons and the Lord of the Rings books are pretty popular at the minute, and even when the games aren't up to much they still sell. Sierra published the first Half-Life, didn't they? I'm pretty sure that was the case over here anyway, and if they're getting Half-Life 2 too then that'll also boost the value.

Vivendi seem pretty insistent that the division is worth a billion dollars, they were offered something in the region of 600-800 million for it but turned it down...
