Is the Xbox useless if you own a decent gaming PC?

Cause IMO I almost feel it is useless now that Halo is on the PC. Almost all the other games I like on it, are also on the PC or are coming.

i wanted an xbox for the sole purpose of Halo. then i heard it was coming out on the PC so i never bought one. xbox got nothing on the PC/PS2.

If you only have an XBox for the FPS titles then yes, there isn't much point in having one if you have a decent PC. But (as I seem to be saying a lot lately) there are more than enough games that are either exclusive to the 'Box or that are at least timed exclusives to keep me happy. I'm glad I played Halo on the XBox with it's co-op mode a year ago (which was still months after it had been released) rather than waiting for the PC version which has just come out, a few months before Halo 2 hits XBox.

Certainly the XBox is more appealing if you don't have a PC that can run the likes of Halo, Doom III, Half-Life 2 or Knights of the Old Republic, but it's still a good machine to have around even if you do.

Only X-Box games I would buy, Halo and KOTOR are able to be played on a decent gaming PC (which I don't have...

) so yeah I'd say so.

Look to the future people. Ninja Gaiden won't be on the PC, and XBox Live is still hack-free. Yeah, there's reason.

I don't really enjoy playing games on my PC as it's just too much hassle configuring controllers and joysticks and soundcards etc so the X-Box will still suit 'pick up and play gamers'.

agreed, Gabe.

I don't own an XBOX (nor do I plan to - can only afford one console), but that is the exact reason I got my first Playstation (and why I continued on with the PS2). It's just too much of a pain in the butt, not to mention too expensive, to try to keep a computer updated enough to run the newest gaming software.

It's only hassle if you make it out to be. All PC games are modified to work on some of the worst pc's out there. You don't have to have a ass kicking rig to play PC games. I only put about $700 total into mine. Thats cost of the PC and everything. And I can run any game I want, and very well I might add. As for controllers, how can you have trouble setting them up. You go into the menu and push the buttons for the commands you want. You can even use your PS2 or any other controller if you want.

Tried that. Followed all the instructions exactly and the joystick and joypad which came with the PC won't run properly with quite a few games...
