the guy who plays the detective... he's dead...

I don't know how or why... but the guy died.

It only reminded me because that link you posted... when we found out that this guy had died.. we were talking about it in this forum.. and someone posted that link to this guy... he had done a few films. it said that he had died, but not how.

but it was right at the very end of the making of SH3.

anyway, Arnie would be funny... though he would have his posse of campaigners behind him 100%

I think (i may be alone here).. but Pierce Brosnan could do a good job, though a lil too British maybe...

or what about Liam Neeson? ...kinda looks like him.... er, side on...... with the lights low.... squinting a lil

Bringing the thread back on track slightly:

Generally games based on films are rushed to tie in with the release of the movie, or just slapped together on the cheap to generate a bit of extra cash. Giving the license to a decent developer helps, look at Goldeneye. That was done well because it was handled by a decent team. The Bond license then goes to a different team and the games haven't been as good since.

Bingo.

Also, movie based games are focused on a linear concept. There is no room to work with.

I agree with Macho Man (although I still do like the Bond games a lot - Nightfire was done well). Enter The Matrix is a good example. I loved the game, but there were a lot of glitches, and by that you could just tell that the game was rushed (to match the release of Reloaded). If they had taken a lot more time with it, it would have (probably) been an award-winning game, with all the Matrix moves that we all love.

The LOTR games that EA are making are good examples of great games made from a movie. They have lots of time to work on it, so there aren't as many bugs come release time, and, in my oppinion, TTT was a GREAT game, although ROTK will simply blow it out of the water.

imo.. yeh... after the Matrix, I didn't know that I would ever see a decent film tie in.. but then I got excited about Crouching Tiger Hidden guinea pig...

but ive just seen reviews for it, and yet again average. average graphics, movement, sound...

then you have the hype of Simpson's Hit and Run game.. yeah it looks ok, but I reckon its going to be shit.. like all the others.

I think the way to do this is to make films of the games. I don't like the idea either, but as others have said, when you take the idea from a movie, you aint got a lot to work on, but movie ideas can be spawned in an egg cup. so let the game create the idea, and then let the film push it in a direction that would be good for both game and film.

the promises that the Matrix would have us believe (before buying the wretched game) is that you would be exp the other side of the coin.. "what's going on in the room when Neo is kicking the shit out of who ever" and what is Ghost doing now... totally the correct way to make and market a film game tie in.

But it was pants. right from the first mission it was obvious the 2nd time round that Naomi plays the same part as Ghost.. thus the illusion was destroyed.

Games apparently are as big if not bigger than the film industry these days, and film companies are starting to see that. With the (piss poor) award ceremony a few months ago.. things may get batter and more emphasise may be put on making a decent stab at game 2 movie tie ins work. But as long as there's a quick buck to be made, they will always choose the short cut.

you only need to look at the Simpson games to see that.

I really enjoyed simpsons road rage...but i haven't played any of the others.

And are you forgetting that the simpsons arcade game is one of the best arcade game EVER MADE?!?

Enter the Matrix was bad. Really bad. When someone else uses your ideas in another game (max payne) and pulls it off ten times better than you....they should've just given the game to rockstar north...maybe then we would've gotten a great matrix gaming experience.

But I mean there were times in enter the matrix when i am diving backwards shooting straight ahead...but my gun is pointing off to the side.....if they can't even get that right....then damn...i thought shiny was a good game maker too....

I haven't played the LOTR games for this reason...i was afraid of wasting my money....but maybe now I will have to give them a shot...
