Decent RPG? - Page 2

I havnt had the time to put more than a few hours into my Dark Cloud 2(dark chronicles) and I havnt near scratched the surface. Its a good buy, i need to lockmyself into a room with it.

... 60 hours in and Ive just found out that I can fish on the Beach..... hurrah! I may not continue Chapter 3 for some time...
great game. this is the longest ive played a game straight through since SC2.

lol.. Arnold has an acute displeasure of the game, probably due because of all the things the game promised and never delivered.

I love the graphics and the story, but it was hailed as Squares flag ship debut game on the PS2, full arcade beat em up.. 4 player, interactive backgrounds blah blah blah... and it did deliver half of those things, but not having interactive backgrounds was a huge mistake for them.

its like having an MGS game and not being able to shoot anyone silently... it was kinda the whole point to the game.

But I like I say, I quite liked it. funny thing is, here in the UK its still nearly £20 second hand! madness really.....

Dude, if you want a good action/rpg for cheap, look no further than Drakan: The Ancients' Gates. The game is ****in awesome. Graphics are good, sound is incredible (especially sound fx), story is cool, and gameplay is challenging. Ryan H. reviewed it here, and I reviewed it for another site when it came out. I freakin love this game and recommend that everyone who likes action rpgs to give it a shot. I give it a 9 out of 10. I think its only $29.99 now too!

FYI - I have Dark Cloud 1 and while it was entertaining, it was extremely repetitive and boring at times. The weapons and stuff are pretty lame IMO, as are the enemies. Not bashing it, I just dont think it deserves any more that a 7 out of 10.

Arc the Lad is also a decent RPG, but its one fault is that it slows down sometimes and gets a tad boring. I cant tell you how many times Ive fallen asleep while playing that game. Battle system is unique, though it could be done a little better, but the graphics are pretty good and the fmvs are cool. Story is different as well. I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

thats probably why DC2 is far far far better than DC1.... its in a league of its own.
Maybe thats why its called Dark Chronicles over in Japan and in Europe?

as for Draken.. what format is that on?

Didn't really want to part with £29.99 but I've ordered Dark Chronicle. Should get a chance to play at the weekend and will post my views next week
