Wow. All I can say is WOW! I just read from this article on IGN that Return of the King is going to be online!!!!
This was a big surprise, it was one of the last games I'd expect to see online! I'll be looking forward to slaying some orcs at the Pelennor Fields with some of you guys.... ![]()

Hey, lue, guess what?
http://www.psxextreme.com/scripts/ne...asp?newID=2083 We here at PSXE ALSO cover the news ![]() Just once I would like to see OUR readers post OUR news. That would be nice. Ah, screw it, I will do it myself: After announcing that their upcoming sports titles would feature Playstation2-exclusive online play, EA also stated that four very big upcoming titles will also feature Playstation2-exclusive online features. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, The Sims Bustin' Out and Need for Speed: Underground will all feature online play for the Playstation2. With the exception of Need for Speed, all of the above games will also feature broadband-only real-time voice chat that will work very much like the "EA Sports Chat" found in the publisher's sports titles. Return of the King will allow players to join up in pairs, either through buddy lists or randomly in the game, for two-player co-op action that covers all 15 levels in the game. Players can also chat in the lobby by using the EA Messenger "instant messenger" feature. Return of the King will feature nine playable characters, of which three will be selectable immediately, and players can tackle any mission online as long as they have unlocked that level in the single-player mode first....... There, much better. All the news you need, no MacDonald's ads bugging the hell out of you. Anyway, yes, this sounds like a promising idea. I'm slowly warming to the idea of online co-op. Yes, I said I am warming to the idea. No, hell hasn't frozen over. |

Ryan, just so you know, I posted this before the article was up here on PSX. There was nothing on the front page until after I had posted that. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Meh, I don't drink anyways...:P
Back on topic, I think this is a big step for online gaming, because with games like RotK going online, a lot of other games that we'd never think to see go online will.
