Arnold, I know you video game journalists exist on a higher plain of consciousness than us mere mortals but would you mind sharing your reasons for saying Phantom's a definite fake? It's not something I've been following too closely but I know people who have been keeping an eye on it, and it would be nice to have a definite reason to give them to stop paying attention to the thing.

I totally agree with AK. and if I turn out to be wrong.. so be it.

my reasons for thinking the Phantom is BS is because no company with the status of Sony, Sega, Namco, Konami, Capcom.... (list goes on and on) would ever allow this to happen.

The only way you could do it is the way Mame have done it, and even they have had to close their site down a few times while court procedures took place.. and Mame deal in pretty old games.

The Phantom suggests that it will be able to play over 32,000 games out of the box... so its not the wireless design or the style of console that's the issue... I reckon they probably have built a console.. but I would gamble my last meal on it that none of the big houses will want to share their games on this console.

Does anyone really think that Konami (let alone Hideo) would let the Phantom have ZOE or MGS? or Sony to say yes to them having GT4... its never gonna happen.

If they do release this console it will not be the same promise that is coming to us now.. there wont be a back catalogue of 32,000 games. and it will all be a lie to make us buy one on the premise that we will be able to play Xbox and Playstation games on the one console.

its never going to happen.

im sorry to be pessimistic... but hey ho and all that...

I'm not too sure.

Most companies make their money from game sales anyway so it may make sense for sony to allow just PS1 games? Just a thought.
