Who all is excited about manhunt?

This game sounds cool as hell. I can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy.

Well, I just did a preview of the game. A fairly in depth one, at that. I must say that I am impressed with the premise of the game, but being a gamer who doesn't require nor seek gratuitous violence in my games, I can't say I am really interested.

I can see and acknowledge the accomplishments that the GTA series has achieved, and they truly are stand out games in the modern day, but that doesn't mean that I like to play them a whole lot.

From what I have learned about Manhunt so far, the same applies- a technically and artistically impressive game that I really have no personal subjective interest in.

That doesn't mean others won't like it, and I am sure that you will PSF. Just make sure you check out the current preview, along with the new shots of the game that we have going up tonight.

I too find the premise interesting, and the gameplay sounds like it would be my scene... But I'm a little afraid of Rockstar's non-GTA games. Can you say, State of Emergency?

Well you actually can't classify Manhunt this way because it is being developed by the Rockstar North. Probably the best at rockstar. Thats the team behind GTA.

State of Emergency on the other hand was developed by Vis Entertainment. There track redord includes Earthworm Jim 3d for the n64, Power Puff girls for the PS2, Evil Dead: fistful of boomstick for the PS2, ok I think you get my point.

Rockstar North has only made a few games other than GTA. Some were ok, but they have made major improvments since the psone. So i would say the game is in pretty safe hands.

Yeah, I just figured i'd clear that a little. If the guys who made SOE were working on this, i'd never read a preview or and writeups at all on it. I just can't believe there making a sequel to SOE.

Based soley on Ryan's preview, I have mixed feelings about the game.

I really enjoyed GTA 3 and VC, for the obvious reasons (ie - same as everyone else). However, I don't think I could have really enjoyed those games if they hadn't used such a 'playful' approach to the violence.

When Ryan mentioned Manhunt would be more of a dark game (can't remember your wording exactly, sorry), without that certain levity in the violence, it made me think the game might not be for me.

I'll probably track it, though. Almost certainly will wait and see what all of you have to say about it after you've had a chance to play it...

Oh, I was slightly encouraged by the comparison to a suspense horror without all the ghoulies/demons, etc. As some of you may know, I've never played games like Silent Hill and RE because of the nature of the bad guys; just don't like all the nasty underworldy crap.

You probably wouldn't like Manhunt then because its going to be a RE and Silent Hill type game combined with GTA material.
