I never said their first party games weren't good. I'm fully aware that all of their first party games can beat some developers best but I'm just making a point of the whole importantcy of first party. It's important but you can survive without much of it. Look at the PSOne. Only a few good first party games but still beat N64.

I'm just saying that Nintendo's games are pretty crappy this generation.

Don't forget Sony's got Everquest. That one's a biggie to some people.

Everquest is not a first party game. It's like saying GC got RE games but you can't because it's a third party game.

Isn't it by Sony Online Entertainment? Sony owns Verant, no?

Nintendos first party games usually rate higher than any other first party developer. However, they are always the same old games. Nintendo's biggest problem is that they don't develop any new franchises. They keep putting out Zelda and Mario and Wario and so on...how about trying something new? Granted their old stand-bys are still great games.
Another issue is that Nintendo's first party games don't seem to be selling like they used to. Maybe that is just the impression I'm getting. But it always looks like they release a new game and it tops the charts but disappears right away. Regardless, I still would love to play the new Zelda.

Good example of nintendo games being old is. I'm just wondering how much longer the zelda games are going to be the classic battle of link and gannon. It's getting old. Everygame, you whip the same guys ass. And mario, i won't even go there. Mario 64 dropped to sunshine, what a shame. Metroid is nintendos only consistent franchise IMO.

Playstation Fan has a good point. Link defeating Gannon is getting quite old to me. I want to see Link go on completely new adventures. I would even like to see Zelda in a turn based RPG game form like having Link, Princess Zelda, and other characters join a party. Mario Sunshine was a disappointent to me and was not as good as Mario 64. I think Nintendo should just continue trying to come up with new franchises like they did with Pikman and Animal Crossing.

I wouldn't call everything Sony 1st party. Most of their games aren't internal. They're mostly 2nd because many other companies that are under Sony's wing make them.
However, ever since N64, I haven't had a big interest in Nintendo games, save for a few. I didn't have much interest in Sony either in the PSX days. However, I look at some of the Sony games I've played: Sly Cooper, Twisted Metal Black, Gran Turismo 3, FreQuency, ICO, Ratchet and Clank, Dark Cloud... I've enjoyed em all. It's odd how I can enjoy these and NOT Nintendo. In fact, one of my most anticipated games for this year is Amplitude, because FreQuency, IMO, was one of the best games I've ever played. I like where Sony 1st/2nd party is going. Great stuff. I enjoy it more than Nintendo, and I don't care how much they'd flame me for saying that. |
