The dress up system is gay. Literally, it is gay. If you want to play dress up with dolls, go buy Malibu Barbie instead and save yourself $45. Worse still, every time you change your little outfit, you get to watch this little scene where your girl goes through this little transformation. Basically, imagine the tedium of watching 98 billion summon sequences every battle, and you get the gist of my problem with the dress up system.

The game also makes no effort at grahpical improvement over FFX. I could understand using the same engine as a means of trimming cost, but to completely forego any attempt at beefing up that engine, even a little bit, ain't going to cut it with this critic.

But you know what? All that I could deal with. Square ****ed up a lot as of late, they gotta turn a quick buck, so they cash in on the franchise for the first time with a direct sequel. Fine, good, more FF can't be bad, right? Wrong. It can be bad, it can be very, very bad, especially when you destroy everything good about the series, such as plot, music, and balance.

Uematsu isn't doing the soundtrack- expect cheesy 70's style pop.

I forget at this time who is heading up X-2 (think it's Kitase) but it doesn't matter, as no thought whatsoever is apparently being put into this game. I could direct this game better than it has been done so far.

X-2 will be mission based, so anyone looking for that non-stop thrill ride of a story that is impossible to turn off will find turning this game off all too easy.

Remember how balanced your party was in FFX? Every character was unique and different, had their own skills, strengths and weaknesses..... yeah, forget that shit, Square decided balance is bad, I guess. Now all three of your characters are cookie cutters of each other, thanks to the dress up system. Oh, one might have a specific job class the other doesn't, but when they share 45 different "specific?" jobs, how can you really give a ****? If you thought FFVIII made your characters completely bland in battle, just wait till you play FFX-2; you will cry. A lot.

There are things that X-2 has going for it, though. Aside from the dress up system, battles are quicker than they have ever been, so if you refrain from playing "dolls" every battle, you can mess up your enemies but FAST. You can simultaneously attack with all three characters at once if you desire.

You know what, though? I don't care. Square took one of the most incredible FF characters in Yuna and turned her from a shy, determined and complex young lady into a hot pants wearing whore with a pressing need to get her gun off. Yeah, yeah, you can dress her up in her white mage outfit so she looks the same, but in the end it's window dressing. A whore wearing a nun's habit is still a whore.

End rant. Sorry, I am extremely ****ing pissed off and depressed right now; I didn't mean to ramble so damn long. Ah well, **** it, I described FFX-2 to a ****in tee.

Well, Goten, I will admit that I am not the end all be all of opinion on this matter. Arnold, for one, certainly disagrees with my assessment of the game. Don't decide on a game solely on my pissed off ravings. I've had a really shitty week and I took it out in part on Square cause right now I ****ing hate them.

I'll probably love them again soon enough.

well I may have over reacted but ffx and ffix didnt appeal much to me anyways, dont get me wrong they were good games but I wasnt a big fan.
Your rant has put me off the game not the whole seires of final fantasy, this game just sounds gay.
Even though I liked kingdom hearts alot it still proves square money grabbing because they want kids and adults alike to pick it up thus in the end gettin more money than usual.
I am however lookin forward to ffxi very much and just hope that I have broadband by the time it is out over here.

Ah I'll still get it. I liked FFX TOO much to not buy the sequel. And there sure as hell isn't anything wrong with speedier battles. Me personally, I'm dying to jump back into the world of Spira. I suppose my opinion is irrelevant because I'm FAR from being a series veteran. Afterall, FFX was the first FF game I played all the way through. So I guess I don't depend on Square to top themselves as much as the average Square fan. I just liked what they put out last time and want some more of that. That's just me. :P
