Default 60 Minutes II

There was an awesome segment on tonite's 60 Minutes called, "Sex, Lies, and Videogames". They talked about Mature videogames and some of the bad press that comes with them, and how even with all that going on, Bill Gates has entered the playing field. They talked about how Sony, Toy 'R' Us, and Walmart wont associate themselves with BMX XXX, then they asked Gates if there were any negative connotations associated with XBox because they offer BMX XXX to their console owners. They also talked about EA, Acclaim, motion capture, and they ended it talking about how fantasy and reality, in some senses, arent as far apart as they used to be. The coolest part was when they went to EA and went to their "game theater". The place was like a movie theater but it showed games instead. They were interviewing the CEO (I think) of EA and they were talking about the experience of videogames being dangerous to the movie industry. The guy from EA was pretty ****ing cool and I think EA shot the end of the segment because it was the host of the show inside NBA Live, walking and talking while holding a basketball and then draining an "around the back" 3-pointer.

GAME ON

I saw that, but it was several months ago now.

In the interview with the EA guy, he was asked how much longer until it would be difficult to discern a game from live footage (film, tv, etc.). His answer? "About five years".

Interesting... Even if he was (probably) talking about PC graphics. It wouldn't be too much beyond that time frame that console graphics would be there.
