I do think the dot hack games seem great, I just can't really see myself wanting to pay $50 for four of them in a short time. That's kind of a lot to me considering the length.

Kingdom Hearts wasn't a great game anyways. Don't know why but i didnt like it as an RPG.

well i bought .hack infection part 1. im not sure if i like it or not. its kind of boring, but i think its partially due to the fact that i just started playing. since this is my first rpg, i have nothing to compare it too. graphic wise, its pretty good looking. im only about 40 minutes into it. i guess its ok, but i need a little more action.

I've only played a little bit of the game, but it looks reasonably enjoyable. More than Zelda its battle system reminded me a little bit of Secret of Mana, which is a good, good thing--SOM is one of my favorite RPG's...the voice acting is pretty miserable, though, and the translation has got some obvious problems...but I've followed the action pretty easily, so it's nothing that'll break the game...I think it's definitely one to look into.

yeah considering it is my first ever RPG, i can dig it. the first 30 mins or so is basically a learning tutorial (thank god for that). i still dont know what some of these letters mean, but theres a "Board" where i can read about it. its like a mmorpg, only not online. i never thought i would like an RPG, but i could get into this i think.

You'd not play a game because of that. I play Mickey Mouse games all the time because several of them were good. Nothing is too kiddy for me.

Anyway, if .Hack plays like Kingdom Hearts, then I'm sold instantly.

I'm really enjoying the game. I've played a ton of RPGs over the years and the idea behind this one is very interesting. Its short though. But with the setup you can create over 10,000 different dungeons(I've heard numbers near 45,000). It pretty much a dungeon crawler with fighting like Kingdom Hearts(great game ). The story is told by ingame movies(no FMV), emails you recieve and the BBS. The four .Hack games are one whole story, each comes with a OVA(anime) that shows another part of the story that takes place along side the game in the real world. Each games tells more of the story and adds more to it. In the first game you can only go to two servers but in the next i believe you get two more in addition to the two you already have. That includes more weapons, more people to group with, more items, etc. The saves port over to the next game after you've finished the first. To really get the whole story you might have to watch .hack//sign(on cartoon network at 3pm on saturdays), the four games, and the anime series that takes place 5 years after the games(currently airing in japan). The story does move slow in the game but since its the first out of four its pretty much an intro to the world. I'd expect the bulk of the story to take place in the end 2nd and 3rd and 4th game.
