I find the stealth aspects of the game dozens of times more polished than MGS (and half of MGS2).

In the area of controls, however, yes, I would have to agree. It's far from being spotless. But one of the obvious reasons for that is the free camera. MGS/2 both gave you a fixed camera, which is a good thing for control, but sometimes not so good for the viewpoints (but typically MGS/2 both excel at using awesome camera viewpoints).

I find it somewhat interesting that so many people (some of whom have posted here) really prefer the keyboard/mouse for control. I always prefered my Sidewinder Pro joystick to the keyboard/mouse (back in the days when my PC would actually play a new game... let's see, that was in 1998) :rollin:

That surprises me also. When I play a PC game, I always have to use a gamepad. I normall use one that is identical to the original PSX controller.

I personally didn't find the stealth in SC as polished as MGS2 but that was just me.

polish != personal enjoyment.

MGS's stealth was QUITE straightforward compared to SC, much more arcadey in a sense. Less environment to interfere with (including shadows, lights, flags, etc), more emphasis on action (especially MGS2).

That explains to why I like it. I do prefer arcade style games over realistic though.
