Default Shadow of Memories

I was reading up aout this game and I was wondering if it is good or not. It has good visuals, sounds like a good story. But when push comes to shove I want to know if its got good gameplay. For those have who played it, can I get your input... Is it worth a buy, or just a rent..?

-Thanks

I orginally bought this game when it first came out for $50. Was it worth it? Very much so. Here's why...

If you like a lot of action, don't buy this game. Now with that said, here are the goods.

Aside from Silent Hill 2, Shadow of Destiny has one the most indepth storylines I have ever experienced in a console game. And you can't just play through it once. It involves time travel in which what you do WILL influence the outcome. Remember those "Choose Your Own Adventure" book you read as a kid (if you read them)? That's how this games plays.

There are 5 regular ending to this games and one "final" ending. It can be argued that there are more, but let's just assume this for simplicity sake. And each time you replay the game (strongly recommended), the new games builds from the previous. In fact, it's like a never ending cycle until ou are about the break the loop by acheiving the "final" ending.

You need to play it several times to get the full effect. The game is broken down into 10 chapters. There is no way you can see everything the first time through. Let's say you have beatened the game and have done all you can the first time through. When you look back to see how much you have completed, let's say, Chapter 4, you may have only uncovered 17% of that chapter. Going through it a second, third or even a forth time will uncover more about the "world" in this game.

There is so much more I can say about this game, but I'm too fond of typing. Good Luck.

Yep, the aspect of freedom in SoD was fantastic. This game, is btw, made partially by the Silent Hill team, which explains its depth. Great game. If you find it, BUY IT.

I have played and beaten this game numerous times. It has a good storyline but while it lacks in real action it has great puzzles. The game is actually pretty short but once you play it you want to beat it alot of times to get all the endings. All in all id say that its a good game.

Definitely a first generation sleeper hit man. You'll have to be patient though Game. It's a STORY driven game. Don't expect a lot of action. In fact, don't expect any action at all. All you need to know that this game is a gem to play and watch, and with 5 different endings plus a side-quest, you'll be playing for quite a while. And believe me, if you mess things up like I did the first time through, you'll be wanting a better ending. For those who played it and got all the endings, I think you'll know what I mean by the DISAPPPOINTING ONE. It's a shame no one bought it. Could've been a fun franchise.

You know...seeing as how you LOVE Shenmue so much, I guarantee you'll love SoD every bit.
