Question Sims

How many of you have PS2 Sims.

I personally think it's a great game but I do have one problem with it.

Why does it take so damn long for them to do stuff??

Get out of bed, pee & wash hands... 1 hour

No wonder it took so long for this game to come out, by the time the developers got ready and got to work, it was almost time to come home again

I'd thought about this a few times (as I'd noticed the same in the PC version and it seemed like a weird thing to do), but there's an obvious reason for it. Basically to get realistic animation the Sims have to move at normal (human) speed, but if the time flowed at the same realistic pace then to complete one Sim day would require you to spend an entire real day playing. Even in the higher speed modes the game would take absolutely ages to get through a single day, making progress really slow.
So Maxis opted for the speed they did, with a Sim minute passing every second.

It does still seem like a weird decision though, as even my best family (live in a real cool mansion, have all the best stuff etc.) have little time to do anything other than build up their moods before work. Great game though..

can you speed up time in the PC version?

it would be a pain in the arse if you couldnt... I would of thought?

I've also wondered about the time issue. I agree with Macho Man in that the game would be really boring if everything was in real time. However, the game also forces you to budget your time better, which is also the point of the game. On the loading screen for the PC version, it lists all the points of the game. The main point is to be able to efficiently balance your time between all your motives and/or responsibilities. IF the game was in real time, you would have a ton of time and nothing would really push you to get things done...like in real life.

Anyway, I too love The Sims and the PS2 version is really good and an accurate port of the PC version. Having the missions was a good touch and I think they should develop that more in future version, even on the PC. The Sims gets tiring after a while of playing it, but it s the kind of game you can always come back to in the future and enjoy it just as much as weh you first played it.

I cant get past level 3.....

I have tried everything, I have read three FAQ's and tried it all the different ways, I just cant pass that level.

I spent 14 hours on it... and yet, all I achieved was to send my sims mad...

from 11am until 1.45am was all spent on lev 3! it got to the point where they were just drinking coffee by themselves..lol

so not only were they dependent on caffeine, but they would have mood swings... they would just burst in to tears at any time, they wouldn't do what I asked them to do.. it was fkg mad.

so I quite that lev, and started again.

and I still cant pass the bloody level.

Great game, but the controller has be thrown across the room three times now..
